Crombie Plumbing & Heating is a Winthrop shop that has been fixing pipes since 1995 — three decades under owner Michael Crombie, per its BBB profile, which lists five employees and notes the business is not BBB accredited. The written record is thin but split. During the 2026 blizzard, the crew reached a burst-pipe emergency at a business that had to stay open through the storm, arriving despite whiteout conditions and leaving everything working again with no mess behind, at what the customer called a fair price given the weather. Another 2026 review tells a rougher story: a $600 bill for what the customer says was thirty minutes of work fixing a leaky faucet, after being told the charge covered the time it took the crew to go get the part. Its Massachusetts plumbing license is active and registry-verified. Google shows 4.1★ from 9 ratings and Porch shows 3.4★ from 18, so before booking anything billed by the hour, it's worth asking upfront how travel and part-run time factor into the charge.
Charged us 2 hours of labor for 30 minutes of work. When we questioned it, my wife was told that they charge for the time it takes them to get go out and get the part. Over $600 for 30 minutes of work to fix a leaky faucet
During the Blizzard of 2026, our business had to stay open despite the extreme whiteout conditions. Unfortunately, we experienced burst pipes, which could have turned into a complete disaster. Thankfully, Crombie Plumbing came to the rescue. Their crew arrived quickly despite the dangerous weather and handled the situation with incredible professionalism and efficiency. They fixed the problem fast and made sure everything was put back exactly the way it should be. You would never even know there had been an issue. Considering the severe weather conditions, the price was extremely fair, which we truly appreciated. It’s rare to find a company that combines speed, skill, and integrity like this. A special thank you to the entire Crombie Plumbing team for their outstanding work during such a difficult situation. Highly recommended! ❄️🔧👏
