Crown Chimney gets the calls other chimney companies won't take. A Hooksett homeowner writing in August 2026 had already been turned down by three companies who wouldn't even look at a propane fireplace insert; Dan and his crew came out, worked out what would fit and put in a wood stove. A 2024 reviewer with a wood-burning insert set into a manufactured firebox told the same story — nobody else wanted the cap problem, Crown solved it. The company has been at this since 2003, by its own account 23 years, working out of Hooksett across southern New Hampshire on sweeps, liners, caps, masonry, and wood, pellet, gas and electric hearth installs. Its Better Business Bureau page is accredited with an A+ grade, and the company says its technicians are certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America and that it belongs to the National Chimney Sweep Guild. A trade outlet named one of its people, Jesse Doucette, Trainer of the Year in a 2025 write-up. Safety work runs through the reviews. A customer writing in 2022 said Crown was the only company that could prove a liner was cracked — they ran a camera down the flue and showed the photos. In a 2023 review, a homeowner with a carbon monoxide problem said Crown's inspection turned up code violations a previous company had missed entirely. When a flue failed at the start of December 2024, a customer said the schedule was rearranged and the furnace was back on inside a week. Plenty of people come back yearly for the clean-and-check, naming the same technicians — Dan, Tom, Jesse, Deb in the office — and recent reviewers describe crews arriving on time, laying down covers and leaving no mess. Two billing complaints from 2022 are the thing to settle up front. One customer said they were charged a $250 inspection fee they were never told about after deciding not to go ahead with expensive repairs; another said Crown quoted a chimney repair and then never returned calls or emails. More recently, a 2025 customer who was otherwise happy said a hearth stone required by code was going in where it would have been a trip hazard until they raised it. For a NH homeowner who needs a stubborn chimney or hearth problem diagnosed and fixed properly, this is a strong call. Ask what the inspection costs and whether that fee applies if you decline the repair, and have them walk you through the hearth and clearance layout before the install day.
“Trainer of the Year: Jesse Doucette, Crown Chimney LLC”
We had contacted 3 other companies who refused to look at our propane fireplace insert to get it replaced. The team at Crown Chimney had no problem coming out and helping us figure out what the best fit was. Dan and his team completed the new wood stove, which included putting a flue in, in two days. They were the best! Highly recommend
Outstanding customer service, the technicians perform quality work and are very professional. Highly recommend
