When a customer's basement heat quit in the January 2026 cold snap, Cubby had a technician at the house within a few hours. Another homeowner ran out of oil during the same stretch of weather and, writing in February 2026, described a delivery squeezed in on a short-staffed day - and a failing heating component found and replaced inside 48 hours. Cubby Oil says it has been family-owned since 1945, with Charlie Uglietto as president and, by BBB's count, eleven employees. It delivers Bioheat fuel and works as an HVAC contractor as well, installing and repairing furnaces, boilers, water heaters and air conditioning from Wilmington across Boston, Somerville, Cambridge, Newton, Arlington, Belmont, Malden, Melrose and Watertown, with 24/7 emergency service. Its Massachusetts HVAC licence, 532-SM-B, is active on the state registry. Customers name their technician. Cody did a heater tune-up and inspection for a new customer this July; Al cleaned and adjusted an oil furnace that had started smoking a couple of days earlier; Ronald D. turned up on time for a scheduled burner service in May; Lon handled an installation set up by assistant service manager Tim. A customer in June liked that the same technician had been to the house before and knew the layout. The office gets named too - a February 2026 customer going through hard financial times wrote that Nancy, Terry and the rest of the team worked with them every step of the way. Google carries 4.9 stars from 936 ratings, and BBB grades the company A+, though it is not BBB accredited. Price is where the tone shifts. In a January 2026 r/Somerville thread asking what people were paying per gallon, one commenter answered that it seemed worth it at Cubby, but that they could have saved money going with a different provider. Back in December 2021, a resident in the same subreddit called Cubby the best they had dealt with, while another reckoned the oil companies were all close on price. If you want a full-service oil company - scheduled delivery, annual maintenance, and someone who answers when the heat dies at midnight - Cubby is a long-established choice north and west of Boston. Ask for their current per-gallon price and the terms of the service plan before you sign, and compare both against a discount deliverer, because that is the trade-off their own customers describe.
“it seems like it will be worth it at Cubby but I could have saved money by going with a different provider altogether”
“Cubby isn't on here, but”
“Would anyone who has had a delivery from Cubby recently be willing to share what they paid per gallon?”

“Cubby is the best I've dealt with so far.”
I’m new as a customer with Cubby oil. Signing up with them and their customer service was a breeze. I had Cody from their service center come and do a heater tune up and inspection. He was great and very professional. I have nothing but high praise for this Company.
Al did an outstanding job servicing our oil furnace. We had been having a smoking problem, and he came out, carefully cleaned and adjusted the necessary parts, and got the system running properly again. He was knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and clearly experienced. I appreciated the way he took the time to diagnose the issue rather than just doing a quick fix. His work gave us real peace of mind. We are very grateful for Al’s excellent service and would highly recommend this company to anyone needing oil burner or furnace service.
My experience was perfect! I love that the same technician has been to my house before and knows the layout. He was here for my central air tuneup and he was immaculate and quiet and very polite. My system is working perfectly. Thank you Cubby!
We recently became customers of Cubby Oil and Energy. Oil is delivered on time, and notifications are sent when the oil is delivered and when service technicians are on their way. We had our oil burner serviced last week as scheduled. Tech Ronald D. arrived on time, was very friendly, professional, and courteous. He performed the service thoroughly, checked our leaking oil tank, and cleaned up after finishing the service. As of now, we are very satisfied with Cubby Oil and Energy and recommend them to everyone.
Excellent from the Consultation with Tim the Assistant Service Manager in setting up the project to have the work done by Lon the technician who has years of experience and it shows in his knowledge and workmanship. Cubby is fortunate these two talented people on their team.
