Cubby Oil says it has been family-owned since 1945, with Charlie Uglietto as president and, by BBB's count, eleven employees. It delivers Bioheat fuel and works as an HVAC contractor as well, installing and repairing furnaces, boilers, water heaters and air conditioning from Wilmington across Boston, Somerville, Cambridge, Newton, Arlington, Belmont, Malden, Melrose and Watertown, with 24/7 emergency service. Its Massachusetts HVAC licence, 532-SM-B, is active on the state registry. Customers name their technician. Cody did a heater tune-up and inspection for a new customer this July; Al cleaned and adjusted an oil furnace that had started smoking a couple of days earlier; Ronald D. turned up on time for a scheduled burner service in May; Lon handled an installation set up by assistant service manager Tim. A customer in June liked that the same technician had been to the house before and knew the layout. The office gets named too - a February 2026 customer going through hard financial times wrote that Nancy, Terry and the rest of the team worked with them every step of the way. Google carries 4.9 stars from 936 ratings, and BBB grades the company A+, though it is not BBB accredited. Price is where the tone shifts. In a January 2026 r/Somerville thread asking what people were paying per gallon, one commenter answered that it seemed worth it at Cubby, but that they could have saved money going with a different provider. Back in December 2021, a resident in the same subreddit called Cubby the best they had dealt with, while another reckoned the oil companies were all close on price. If you want a full-service oil company - scheduled delivery, annual maintenance, and someone who answers when the heat dies at midnight - Cubby is a long-established choice north and west of Boston. Ask for their current per-gallon price and the terms of the service plan before you sign, and compare both against a discount deliverer, because that is the trade-off their own customers describe.
