Curtis Construction Services is a small Brookfield, Massachusetts excavation company — by its own description a business where customers deal directly with the owner and field crew — doing general and drainage excavation, residential drainage, grading and land clearing for homes and small commercial properties across Central and Western Massachusetts. The Better Business Bureau lists it as a sole proprietorship owned by Marc D. Curtis, started in 2016, with an A+ grade; the company's own pages say 12 years in one place and 10 in another. The customer record is small but unanimous: 13 Google reviews from 2022 through 2026, every one five stars, and they describe the same things in specific terms. Homeowners in 2025 and 2026 hired Marc for re-grading and drainage against a hillside with poor site access, drainage work quoted the next day and finished in a day and a half at what the customer called a very reasonable price, window wells installed with fine grading around them, and stump removal followed by yard grading. Older accounts add a 2024 swimming-pool removal from a mature backyard the reviewer wanted preserved, and a 2025 job for the Friends of Quabbin helping a stone-construction specialist stabilize a 159-year-old keystone bridge in New Salem. Reviewers repeatedly use the words prompt, fair price, and cleaned up. BBB records a Massachusetts hoisting licence number, HE-176146, but names no holder and says it has not verified it, so treat that as the directory's note rather than a confirmed credential. There is no negative account anywhere in the record. Curtis is the kind of call for a drainage, grading, stump or small-excavation job in the Brookfield–Worcester–Springfield corridor, with the owner on site; ask for the written estimate reviewers describe and confirm the current licence yourself.
We hired Marc to do some re-grading and drainage along the back of our house where it comes up against a large hill. He and his team did an excellent job getting into the job site, which doesn't have much access. Two bushes needed to be moved temporarily as part of the process, and they took excellent care of them and put them back at the end, they are still healthy and thriving. As for the grading itself it's a nice subtle slope away from the house into the new swale they added at the bottom of the hill. We had a large rainstorm sweep through recently and the swale performed perfectly, channeling the water from the hill off and around the house. I would happily hire Marc and his team again.
I had Curtis Construction do some drainage work at my home. Marc came promptly to see the job and we received the estimate the next day. The price of the work to be done was very reasonable. Marc and his crew had the job completed in a day and a half. My property was left in pristine condition. I recommend Curtis Construction without hesitation!
Great work on my window wells! Marc did an excellent job installing my window wells. He was professional, efficient, and the finished result looks clean and solid. I’m very happy with the quality of his work including the fine grading around the wells. He made sure everything was done right and left the area neat and clean. I would definitely recommend Marc to anyone needing window wells work or other home improvement projects. Great guy and great results. Thank you, Marc!
Friends of Quabbin hired Marc to work with a freestone construction expert in stabilizing a 159 yr-old keystone bridge in New Salem, MA. Beautiful, timely and cost-effective describe the work. A difficult job with no set way to achieve saving the bridge. The two contractors worked well together and with the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and Friends of Quabbin and took an initial remotely possible chance of success to achieve a beautiful, successful job in reasonable time and at reasonable cost despite some last minute requirements of DCR. The bridge should last many more years, preserving some unique history in the Quabbin watershed.
Marc does great work. Offered a thorough consultation up front, had a reasonable timeline and completed the work to grade my yard in 2 days. Highly recommend !
