Custom Construction Designs LLC is a pool builder from Griswold, Connecticut. On its Houzz profile the company says it builds in-ground gunite pools and spas, grottos and waterfalls, along with pool houses, patios and fences. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0623764, is active on the state registry. A 2019 customer wrote that Dennis Sullivan and his team renovated their 40-year-old gunite pool, replacing the skimmer, installing new tile, resetting some of the copings and resurfacing it with an eco finish. A 2019 customer said their pool renovation was on time, earlier than originally anticipated, and within the quote, with regular progress updates and pictures as the work went on. A 2023 Google reviewer said Dennis installed their gunite pool back in 2012 and designed a solution that fit a unique backyard site. In a 2017 Houzz review, Sunfox Campground in Lisbon described working with the company on a heated, zero-depth beach entry pool with an L-shaped design and a whirlpool spa, and said the 7-8 week construction estimate was very accurate. A 2017 customer said the company built their pool in 2013, worked well with the other contractors on the project, and had provided ongoing support and maintenance since the pool opened. A 2022 customer said labor shortages and supply chain delays made their project take longer than initially expected. A 2023 Google reviewer said Dennis and his son Russell quoted a pool repair and closed the pool, promised to repair the leaks in the fall and never showed up, and later said they could not come that summer.

Dennis and his son Russell visited my home in the Summer of 2022 to quote on a pool repair. I also booked them to close the pool. They closed our pool and promised to repair the leaks in the fall but never showed up. Then called and texted endless times for appointments which were always committed in fall, then winter before freeze, then Spring. At one point Dennis called to apologize for not showing up and said they would come in 2 weeks and then never showed up. again after many texts and calls they promised to come and never came. Today 30th of May they now say they cannot come this Summer and all other companies are booked. They may be a "nice or small family company" but the string of broken promises, lack of professionalism and the difficult position they have put us in with our pool is truly unfortunate and just wrong. STAY AWAY as certainly their word cannot be trusted.
Dennis installed my gunite pool back in 2012. He did a fantastic job designing a solution that fit my unique backyard site. The finished product was beautiful and for more than 10 years I've gotten lots of compliments and I've recommended Dennis to many people.

Dennis and his team are wonderful. The quality of this pool is top notch, much better than you'd get with a more commercial pool company and it will be more affordable. He's been doing this for years and his expertise shows. Certain things outside of everyone's control (labor shortage and supply chain delays) made for the project to take longer than initially expected, but the product we got at the end was so very worth the wait.
Dennis and his team are simply the best. From our first meeting and throughout the construction of our pool, Dennis was available, friendly and flexible. No question or request was too much!
