The jobs people hired Custom Home Finish for are the ones where new woodwork has to look like it was there from the start: a six-foot wall of cubbies fitted into a specific spot in an existing house, cabinetry matched to the kitchen already in place, a fireplace mantel swapped out and rough-hewn ceiling beams boxed in. It is a design-build custom carpentry shop — built-ins, entertainment centers, closets, kitchens and interior finish carpentry for new construction and existing homes — and it says it works across Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Two names come up in the reviews: Kevin and Glen. Its own site places the business in Grafton; its Houzz and BuildZoom profiles list Mendon. Its written record runs 2013 to 2018, 15 reviews, all on Houzz. Within that stretch the accounts are unusually specific about the work. A January 2013 client itemized casing 12 openings on both sides, new baseboards, repaired jambs and a new oak stair nose. In July 2013, a homeowner who described themselves as a tough customer listed built-in bookshelves, a fireplace mantle and surround, and built-in coat closets in a mudroom; another that same month had crown moldings, chair rails, panels and decorative frames around walkways made for a dining room, dinette and kitchen. A designer by trade, also writing in July 2013, said the mudroom cabinetry was built off site and delivered and installed on time. Four reviewers describe going back for more. The most recent, in February 2018, had a dining room hutch and a built-in desk and bookshelf done in a first home, then brought the team into a second house for a mudroom cubby and bench, a small built-in desk and mail area, and a fireplace design. A September 2017 client said Kevin got back quickly with an estimate and the job landed inside the anticipated time frame even after scope was added. Houzz has the shop at 4.9 from 14 ratings, with four awards and eight projects posted, and lists licence CS-110971. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor licence, #162977, under owner Kevin Flanagan, and shows permits for a kitchen remodel, a bonus-room and bathroom finish, and a master bathroom remodel. For built-ins, trim and cabinetry that have to marry into a house that already exists, this is the shop those homeowners kept rehiring. Since the written accounts run 2013 to 2018, ask what the crew has finished lately, and whether Kevin and Glen are still the ones in the house.
“Columned Opening Interior Trim - Traditional - Games Room - Boston - by Custom Home Finish”
Kevin's work is incredible. He completed two beautiful pieces for me in my first home, a dining room hutch and a built in desk/bookshelf. I hired him again for our second home to crest a mud room cubby and bench, a small built in desk and mail area and a fire place design. Once again, he delivered. His creations are amazing and I can't picture my forever home without them. I highly recommend custom home finish. The designs are high quality and the installation is done with such care. A true Family business.

Kevin, Glen, and the rest of the Custom Home Finish team did a spectacular job on our project. Kevin was super responsive, got back to me quickly with an estimate, completed the job in the anticipated time frame - even with some add-on scope, and the quality of the team's work was fantastic. We are so happy with our new built-ins and new wainscoting - thanks to Custom Home Finish, our home now has a nice "WOW" factor! Will definitely be calling these guys again!
We just finished two projects with Custom Home Finish and couldn't be happier. While one project - a 6 ft. wall of cubbies was something they were very good at - (their previous projects pictures were a huge help), I was looking to put it in a very specific area of an existing home, and they still made it look beautiful and part of the room. The second project, building out kitchen cabinets and a "home" for the refrigerator was definitely a unique request, and they did such an amazing job making sure the cabinetry matched the existing cabinets and made it look like the pieces have always been there. They are truly skilled carpenters, Kevin, Glen and Joe were all a pleasure to work with. I'm hoping to work with them again on future projects for our home.
