Dave's Appliance in Winthrop sells, delivers and services home appliances, and it also installs heat pumps. A recent Google customer describes two mini-split installations with Connor as the main contact: the second, at their own house, had four indoor and three outdoor units, and after finishing, the company told them some line-set runs were longer than it wanted, came back, shortened the runs and relocated the outdoor units at its own expense. The appliance side shows up the same way. A recent customer bought a washing machine and said Jess was honest and knowledgeable, and named Josh and Josh as the delivery pair who made sure the machine was placed to their liking. A 2025 customer said the service department walked them through fixes over the phone when a five-year-old fridge stopped cooling, getting it running without a visit. A 2024 customer whose washer needed parts that would take about two weeks said the company lent a washing machine at no cost. In a 2024 review, a customer said a fridge arrived damaged and the floor got scratched, and the company sent a second fridge with a three-person team and paid to have the floors fixed. On heat pumps, a 2023 Google customer said two heat pumps were installed neatly and cleanly. A 2022 customer said the company did the heat pump system on a self-built new home with the best quote. A 2023 Reddit commenter said a single heat pump with one outdoor unit cost 6k with rebate, after finding the company on the Efficiency Maine list. A 2025 customer said getting a return call about a dryer belt was hard, though the work was good once someone came out. In a 2025 review, a shopper said an oven was quoted at over $4,300 against $2,999 elsewhere, with no installation included. The company says it has been in business 49 years. I've used Dave's Appliance twice for mini-split installations, with Connor as my main contact both times, and I've been extremely happy with the experience. The first installation was at my mom's house and was relatively straightforward: two indoor units with simple line-set and drain routing. The installation team did a really nice job, and Dave's also helped with the rebate paperwork, which was a huge help. The second installation, at my house, was much more complicated: four indoor units, three outdoor units, some challenging line-set routing, and a request to locate the outdoor units behind a retaining wall so they'd be hidden from view. After the installation was complete, Dave's contacted me to let me know that, after reviewing the work, they had determined that some of the line-set lengths exceeded what they wanted for the system. Rather than leaving it as-is, they came back, did a significant amount of work to optimize the runs, and relocated the outdoor units. It was a substantial effort, and they took care of all of it at their own expense. That experience really demonstrated the honesty and integrity of the company. They wanted the system to be right, even when fixing it meant extra work on their part. I also want to specifically recognize Connor. He's an excellent liaison between the customer and the installation team and a genuine customer advocate. He listens to what you're trying to accomplish, communicates well with the installers, and really makes sure you end up with a system you're going to be happy with. I couldn't be happier with the final result. You're in very good hands with Dave's Appliance, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
I bought a washing machine and a refrigerator here with good experiences both times, and recently had a great experience with the heat pump side. Highly recommend.
I wish I could give more stars. We had the best experience buying a new washing machine - Jess was honest, understanding and very educated about the products - The delivery guys, Josh and Josh were so kind - they went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable with the machine and it's placement. Everyone was so helpful and personable, thank you!
Very knowledgeable and helpful. The staff made it easy to find the right dishwasher for my needs.
Joseph and Caleb delivered a new refrigerator on our third floor walk-up today and could not have been nicer or more professional. They answered all of our questions and told us about the new appliance and warranty. The product is better than hoped for. Highly recommend on all fronts.
