Davis Oil & Propane says its family has provided fuel delivery and service to Southwestern New Hampshire neighbors for a century, and its website names Stoddard, Chesterfield and Peterborough in its service area. A recent customer said tech Rusty installed a new water heater in under 3 hours. A recent customer called the company price-gouging. A 2023 customer who ran out of oil, and with it hot water, said Jen got tech Joey out the same day, and that they bled the lines and filled the tank in less than 15 minutes. In a 2022 review, a customer at 1/4 of a tank, whose previous oil company had pushed delivery to Monday, said Davis Oil promised a fill that same day. A 2022 customer with an oil leak from a failing pipe leg said the tank was drained into 55 gal drums and a temporary line was connected to the furnace so they would have heat. A 2022 customer said the Davis Oil crew removed an aging oil tank and installed a new one. A 2024 customer who used Davis for heating oil and service wrote that it was typically a little more expensive than Heatable, and that they could trust when the oil would show up. A 2024 customer said Davis installed propane for a new whole-home backup generator after other providers could not do a site visit for months. A 2024 customer said the company swapped propane tanks and serviced the furnace on the same visit, and a separate 2024 review praised the installation of a new furnace. A 2025 customer who clipped a line called on a Saturday and said they showed up and had it fixed within an hour. A 2026 customer said a new propane tank was installed, but the fill promised for later that day never came, and they were then told not until the next day. A 2026 reviewer who went to the storefront about a bill sent to their parents said Steve could not produce proof it was owed and criticized them for being disabled. A 2022 customer said they signed up for a Monday delivery at the price listed on the website, that the oil never came, and that the line was busy or off the hook on 5 calls over two weeks.
Once again Davis Oil came through. Their tech Rusty was simply amazing and installed a new water heater in under 3 hours. Professional in every aspect.
Wow...this place is price-gouging!
What a great family business! Davis Oil helped out a customer of mine, whose propane company let them run out of propane then, wanted to charge them an astronomical fee to deliver to them. Davis Oil came out, did a site evaluation, then they came out and installed the propane tanks the same day, so that the customer would not go without heat!
I went into Davis Oil to address a bill that was sent to my parents. My mother had already had a negative interaction with Steve, so I was going in to de-escalate and pay the bill if he could show proof that it was owed. I had no ponies in this race, and had the money "owed" in my pocket. Steve immediately verbally attacked me as soon as I entered their storefront, and stated why I was there. He criticized me for being disabled (which I am ) saying that "people like you always like to play the victim", and that he could not actually produce any evidence that my parents owed any monies to their company. He continued to ridicule me as I left the building. Again, I had no skin in this game. I had money in my pocket to pay if he could prove why I should. I would be EMBARRASSED if I were Davis Oil. They ought to be ASHAMED of themselves. I was ridiculed and berated for being handicapped, and I didn't even owe them money. This was one of the most blatant money grabs I have ever witnessed, with no proof, and then subsequently attacking the people who said, "No." I will never use this company because I already thought they weren't great. After witnessing how they treat their actual customers/advocates for their customers? Hard pass. Edit to add after owner's response: Let's see the video. You are a business. I wasn't recording anything on my phone because I thought I was going to get receipts and signatures, pay a bill, and walk out, but instead I got berated. Don't tell me you treated me with "professionalism and respect" because I have never felt so disrespected in my entire 54 years on this rock. All I asked for was to show me the receipts. The signatures agreeing to this insane proposal in writing. And I would pay the bill. Instead, I got a lot of lip and attitude in response. Very insulting lip and attitude that was completely unrelated to the issue at hand. So, Steve "Conversations in our office are conducted calmly and, for accuracy and safety, are recorded." Let's hear it.
Had a brand new tank installed yesterday been out of propane for a week allready. They said they will be back later that day to fill the propane in the new tank and never showed. Now calling them today the next day are now telling us not until tomorrow! Paid everything in full for installation and to have tank filled. This is ridiculous
