Decks and steps are what people call DC Carpenter for. A Thumbtack customer in April 2022 wrote that Dennys and his team rebuilt the deck and called the work flawless; in July 2023 another said their deck was outdated and its stairs unsafe, and that the finished deck was safe again. Two Angi customers in August 2025 described the crew power-washing, sanding and sealing garden stairs and a little deck, and suggesting ways to make a set of front steps stronger and more durable. Its Angi profile puts the company in Framingham, family-owned, with service in Spanish, and carries a 4.9 average across 145 ratings; on Thumbtack it holds 4.7 from 17 ratings, 88% of them five stars, with a completed background check listed. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor license, #197169, and HomeAdvisor lists the same number. Two names come up in the reviews — Cosme and Dennys — and the praise repeats the same things: estimates that arrive fast and come in reasonable, texts and emails answered, crews that show up on the day they said. An October 2025 customer described hand-held sanders and brush painting and couldn't have been happier with the result. In June 2026 another wrote that the wood couldn't be stained yet because it had to cure, but that everything felt secure and sturdy. Two things to raise before hiring. A 2-star Angi review from August 2026 says Cosme wanted half the price up front in cash, and Angi's profile notes a complaint about a threshold promise left undone. Separately, safetyrecord.org reports one OSHA inspection since August 11, 2025, resulting in one violation and $3,000 in penalties. For a deck rebuild, porch and stair repair, fence work or exterior trim, this is a small carpentry crew with years of five-star write-ups behind it on Angi and Thumbtack. Settle the payment schedule in writing before any money changes hands — how much up front, in what form, and what the final payment covers — and get add-ons like thresholds or trim written into the same quote.
“DC CARPENTER LLC has had 1 OSHA inspection since Aug 11, 2025, resulting in 1 violation and $3,000 in penalties on record.”
Hired Cosme to do interior work He wanted half the price upfront in cash. When he was here to quote job, I told him I also need two pieces of threshold done between 2 rooms. He said he would do it at end of job and I would just pay for the material and he would install. Hired him prior for exterior work and price was paid at the end of job. First day he showed up and took the cash and workers did the job. At the end of work, Cosme did not show up and his cousin asked for the cash balance. I told him about my conversation with Cosme and he said he would do the thresh holds but he wanted another $400 to do it. I told him that is not what Cosme agreed to. His so- called cousin took off with the worker and that was that. I texted Cosme about his promise to come back and he never replied. Very telling. Wanting cash upfront was sketchy and not keeping his word was telling.
Great communication. Quick service. Reasonable prices. Quality work. I would hire DC carpentry again. They couldn’t stain the wood because it has to cure, but everything felt secure, sturdy and well done.
The guys did a terrific job! They were meticulous, hard working, used hand held sanders, brush painted…. I couldn’t have been happier with their work. They came when they said they would and communicated well thru text and email.
Great experience with this company. They power-washed, sanded, and sealed our garden stairs and little deck. Cosme was knowledgeable, polite, and always answered my texts promptly. He and Gustavo did the work for a very reasonable price and it looks great! Thank you, Cosme and Gustavo!
These guys are absolute pros..artists, if you will..they reviewed my request and made suggestions as how to make my front steps stronger and more durable...would hire these men back in a flash
