Derek Barnes Construction

Derek Barnes Construction is a Hull, MA general contractor and handyman business that says it has served the South Shore and Greater Boston since 1985, taking on kitchen and bathroom remodels, additions, decks and porches, siding, windows, roofing and general repair work. The only customer account on file is a 2024 Houzz review, which names Derek himself — credited there as the owner — and describes the communication as transparent from the first call through the end of the job, calling the whole experience refreshingly professional. It's a single review, so it can't yet speak to how the company performs across a wider range of jobs. The company offers free estimates before booking. Its own site claims "more than 35 years" in business while also dating its start to 1985 — which works out closer to four decades — so it's worth asking directly how long the current operation has been running under this name. It's a reasonable call for a South Shore homeowner who wants one contractor for a remodel, addition, or general repair list — just get the scope and pricing in writing, since there isn't yet much public track record beyond the one review and the company's own claims.
