Design Center West is a Northborough showroom and design-build company that's been part of the same business since 1977 — nearly 49 years, per its own site — selling furniture and home decor alongside kitchen, bath, decking and tiling remodeling. Jeremy Roussel is its president per BBB, and reviews repeatedly credit him and designer Ofelia by name. BBB gives it an A+ and has accredited the business since 2021. On Google it holds a 4.5-star average across 11 ratings, and the reviews on file, mostly from 2021-2023, split into two camps: several describe design consultations and full kitchen or bath projects — countertops, backsplashes, cabinetry, flooring — as smooth and well-communicated, with a 2023 review calling a full kitchen renovation 'beautiful' and faster than expected. But a separate 2023 review describes a badly installed kitchen tile floor: ridges between tiles, uneven heights, one tile barely glued down and another reattached with double-sided tape instead of adhesive, bad enough that the homeowner called in an outside handyman to fix it. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#202133) is currently expired, according to the state registry — worth asking about before hiring for construction work specifically. For furniture, design consultation, or cabinetry and countertop work, the reviews are largely positive; for tile or floor installation specifically, the 2023 complaint is worth asking about directly, along with current licensing status for any construction project.
“My wonderful employees. Some have stayed with me for more than 30 years.”
“I have had the good fortune of working with Robin Boyce and her staff over the past 20 years and through four homes.”
“Design Center West, a furniture and home decor store, will move to Northborough center from the Solomon Pond Mall after Christmas.”
I would not recommend Design Center West in Northborough. I am very dissatisfied with the work that was performed installing my new kitchen tile floor. There are some ridges between the tiles, some of the tiles are higher and/or lower than the edge of adjacent tile. There is lippage on many tiles. One tile is not glued down enough, it can be pushed down. One tile that had a 3 inch cut line in it, was replaced and put in with double sided tape. Not even glued in. I had to call my handyman over to see if he would be able to correct these issues. I am still cleaning glue off some of the tiles, this was a sloppy, unprofessional job.
I hired DCW for a full kitchen renovation, which came out BEAUTIFULLY. With such a large project, communication is crucial; Jeremy truly was a pleasure to work with and always made us feel like his top priority. Prices were reasonable and the job got done much quicker than expected.
They have great vanity options for my budget!
Great showroom, lots of tile and floor options! I love the design they cane up with!
This is a review in progress. For the past several months DCW has provided us with design services for our new kitchen, bathroom, fireplace and flooring. Jeremy and Ofelia are great to work with and Ofelia really gets what we like. It is refreshing to work with folks that understand what you are all about.
