Fifteen Google reviews since 2023, every one of them four or five stars, and one first name in almost all of them: Bill. Distinctive Fences works out of 1000 Providence Highway in Sharon and does fencing and gates only — cedar, stockade, board-on-board, vinyl, aluminium, ornamental and pool fencing, plus repairs, staining, guard rail and pet enclosures. Its Better Business Bureau page is the strongest external marker on the row: accredited since July 2011, an A+ grade, a file open since 1993, ten employees, president Bill Guisti, and an alternate trading name the business clearly wears with some pride — The Friendly Fence People. A BuildZoom stub for the same address and main line files the operation under its older name, Sharon Fence Co, and names George R Guisti as owner. The reviews say much the same thing over and over: they turn up when they say they will, and they keep dealing with you afterwards. In April 2026 a homeowner described a repair after the "Blizzard of 26" where the fitter also spotted a couple of other spots needing reinforcement and dealt with them in the same visit. A November 2025 reviewer had a panel accidentally damaged by their own landscaper after the install and said Billy found them an affordable replacement quickly. A February 2026 customer had old fencing removed from the site as part of a repair-and-replace job. A 2023 reviewer noted the installers were careful not to tread on her perennials, which is the kind of detail that only shows up when a crew is paying attention. The scale of the record is the honest caveat. Fifteen written accounts across three years is a thin book for a company that says it has been at this for five decades, and all of them sit on a single Google profile — the Better Business Bureau publishes no star average and no complaints, so nothing independent moves the number either way. Its founding year is stated three ways across its own surfaces: the website says 1972 and "54 years", while the Better Business Bureau records the business as started 1/1/1971 with 55 years in business. The only licence any source publishes for it is a Rhode Island residential-contractor registration, #10664, which BuildZoom itself calls lapsed since November 1994 and then contradicts on the same page. For a straightforward residential fence or gate on the Sharon–Canton–Westwood side of Route 1, this is an easy shortlist entry, and the repair and maintenance side looks like a genuine strength rather than an afterthought. Ask who will actually be on site, ask what registration covers your job, and get the removal and disposal of old fencing written into the quote — several reviewers valued exactly that.
Excellent experience.
Tim came to fix parts of my fence that got damaged during the “Blizzard of 26”..He was prompt & professional. He also noticed couple other areas that could use re enforcement and took care of all my needs! Highly recommend!
