Homeowners keep finding DIY Solar Company after somebody else has already let them down. In a March 2024 review a homeowner called about a fault on a system a different company had installed; in a February 2023 review another said the firm got their array running after the original installer went out of business; and in an April 2025 review a homeowner who could not get their old solar company to pull panels for a new roof said Matt arranged the removal, the roof and the reinstall inside a couple of weeks. The company works out of 779 Union St in Duxbury, and what people hire it for is residential solar — new arrays, battery backup, and repairs to other companies' installations. Google shows 4.7 stars from 18 ratings, and fifteen written reviews are on file, running from May 2022 to April 2025. Fourteen of those fifteen are five-star, and the praise is unusually specific about responsiveness. A March 2024 reviewer said calls were answered or returned within ten minutes. A June 2024 reviewer credited Matt with getting SolarEdge to stand behind a warranty. A March 2023 customer described a 10kW system with battery backup that replaced a 13-year-old array and had run grid-free since installation, New England winters included. The one dissenting account is the one to read before calling. In an August 2023 two-star review a homeowner said an install pitched for "before your next electric bill" took about six months, and described Matt as a general contractor who subcontracts the work rather than an installer — so the schedule depends on other trades. The same reviewer said the roofer brought onto the job replaced double the shingles actually needed, and only halved the bill after being challenged. One review deserves a caveat: a five-star entry from April 2024 is written by a materials supplier who states plainly that he is not a customer, so it speaks to how the company treats trade partners rather than to a finished job. Before booking, ask for a written schedule naming the subcontractors and who carries any roofing scope, and get the shingle count and price agreed in writing before roof work starts. For a homeowner who needs an existing system diagnosed, rescued or expanded — especially one an earlier installer walked away from — this is the outfit people in that position keep recommending. Its written reviews run 2022 to April 2025, so it is also worth asking what the company has installed most recently.
