Every written account of hiring Donnie Fuller Contracting tells the same story. Four reviews on BuildZoom, posted between May 2017 and December 2019, average one star out of five. The specifics repeat across different customers and different jobs. A Beverly homeowner writing in May 2017 about a $34,000 roof and breezeway conversion said permits were never pulled for the electrical and structural work, that the town's building inspector came out and catalogued code violations, and that the job was left unfinished with a new door that would not lock. Later that same month a Dracut customer described damaged basement plumbing and no licensed plumber on the crew. In October 2018 a shed buyer said the doors warped and nobody would come back to fix them; in December 2019 another customer said he was billed for materials that were never used. Three of the four independently describe the owner turning combative and profane on the phone when a problem was raised. That history is dated — nothing has been posted since December 2019. The company itself is long-established: the Better Business Bureau records a 1988 start, four employees, owner Donnie Fuller and three Massachusetts addresses, and BuildZoom counts 21 permits across the state. Two licence details are worth checking yourself rather than taking on trust. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts construction supervisor licence, CS-100279, as active, and a home improvement contractor registration, 134354, as inactive and at one point cancelled. Neither has been confirmed against the state registry here, so verify both directly before any contract. If you are considering them for a roof or an addition, the complaints are specific enough — unpulled permits, unfinished work, billing disputes — to put to the owner one by one, and to back with recent local references you can actually call.
Remodel work $4,000. My experience was the same as many of the other reviews of this unprofessional company. I wish I read the reviews before hiring them. Their work is amateur at best. They do not have skilled tradesman on their crew. I was charged for materials that they did not use and they left my house in worse shape than before they came! I had to hire another contractor to clean up their mess and make everything right. Like other reviewers have said - when I called the owner to talk about the poor quality work he just became combative and assailed me with profanities. Steer clear of this company or you will regret it.
build a shed. he built me a shed with doors that are too heavy for the hardware, they are warping. complaining since day 2 sent a worker out who cut the bottom of the door, a week later sent another who would not touch the door alone. he does not stand by his work and will not come out to repair it. sleeze ball con. DO NOT let him on your property
Basement bathroom renovation. Please DO NOT hire this contractor....I repeat DO NOT hire this company to do any work at your house or business. We had a VERY negative experience with shoddy work performance and lack of completion. They do NOT have licensed plumbers on their staff and they damaged my existing plumbing in my basement without any resolution. Once I called the owner Donnie Fuller over the phone to voice my concern about their job, Donnie became very combative with me using vulgar language with many expletives and would not allow me to speak. Donnie then abruptly hung up the phone on me. We were very unsatisfied with their workmanship and overall lack of professionalism. It was a VERY negative experience and we would not recommend this company to anybody moving forward....Buyer beware.
Replace full roof, remodel breezeway to make a winterized room which required electrical, structural. $34,000. I contracted with Donnie Fuller Contracting to replace a roof and to turn my breezeway into a winterized room. He took a building permit on the roof but failed to take out required permits for multiple jobs (electric, structural) to rehab the room. The local Building Inspector was kind enough to come to my house and see for himself the number of code violations Fuller left behind! This job was left unfinished. The very expensive new door which Fuller Contracting installed will NOT lock and the screen will NOT latch. Therefore, my house is NOT secure with this new door. Fuller says if I want it fixed I need to pay him more to repair his own installation work! The costs of labor and estimates of time needed to complete the whole project fell far short of reality...you expect that you may end up paying an extra 15% over an estimate, but 100% over is just poor estimating or deliberate bait and switch. I'm not talking hundreds, I'm talking thousands here. I would NOT recommend this company and will file a report with Better Business Bureau and the MA Licensing Board and consumer protection agencies. I will now take him to court to recoup my losses. Buyer Beware! He will (loudly) threaten to sue you if you don't want to pay before the repairs to HIS work are done.
