A wgme.com article reports that Superior Plus Propane purchased at least three local fuel companies, including Downeast Energy, and closed all local offices in Maine for customer walk-ins. The BBB grades it F and counts 33 complaints against it, and it holds 2.3 stars from 6 Google ratings. A recent Reddit commenter in r/Maine said nobody picked up the phone and nobody replied to their email requests. A 2025 Reddit commenter said they overfilled a tank and the pressure caused the tank to break, letting gas spew out into the yard and inside the residence. A 2026 Reddit commenter said a charge was removed only after 6+ hours on hold. A 2026 Google reviewer gave one star and told others to find a real serious company. A 2022 Reddit commenter called the company incredibly overpriced on all its fuels. A 2025 Reddit commenter who switched to Downeast said it locked them in to a very reasonable rate and came right out in bad weather so they did not go without.

The worst service ever. Save your time and money and find a real serious company.
Bought a new home on 6/3/2024 .There was Downeast tanks on premise ,s o I stayed with them.
We were new customers last year and we were pleased with their price of $2.39/gallon on propane.
They took my money for a Propane delivery upon my order on December 6, 2024 and I am still waiting for the delivery. I have called twice and was told I am in the Que but no delivery has occurred.
