Drew McFarland is a one-electrician Malden operation (sometimes with a helper), and the read splits cleanly by era. The three most recent reviews, all from spring and early summer 2026, describe a responsive, careful operator — solving a 'messy ancient slipshod wiring issue' a previous electrician couldn't fix, in about three hours, and working with the existing wiring rather than pushing an unnecessary full rewire. The strongest praise across the record centers on how he handles a job: he shows up the same day for dead circuits, explains what's wrong before fixing it, and several reviewers mention he charged the lower end of a quoted price range rather than the higher one. A 2022 review describes him re-wiring three separate homes for the same customer, and a 2024 review describes a full electrical redo during a two-bathroom renovation. The record isn't uniform, though. Two older reviews raise a similar complaint from different angles: in a 2024 review, a customer wrote that he was hard to reach after leaving several messages with no response, and in a 2023 review, another described never getting a reply to a text. A more serious complaint from 2023 describes a circuit-breaker replacement where he installed an oversized 40-amp breaker in place of a 30-amp one, which knocked out power to the water heater; when the customer called back the same day, he declined to return without charging again for a second visit. None of that shows up in the most recent stretch, which reads like a return to the same-day, walk-you-through-it service the earlier positive reviews describe — but it's worth confirming any breaker or panel work gets fully tested before he leaves, and that a callback is included if something isn't right.
I recommend Drew. He was recommended to me by a neighbor in Malden. In 3 hours, he solved a messy ancient slipshod wiring issue that the previous electrician couldn't. He worked knowledgeably with the existing old wiring rather than trying to convince me to replace everything with Romex. He pointed out other improvements that should be made to the wiring, but did not pressure, scare, shame, etc... me into doing anything but the essentials to fix what was broken. He and helper Joe seem like genuinely good people.
Great attention to detail. Responsive and always gets the job done right. Will definitely have him back.
Drew and his team are just straight up good people. They don’t screw you around. They communicate well and do what needs to be done. Not only is Drew my go to electrician but he’s my plumber’s too. He’s replaced my breaker box, installed ev charging, done minor light and outlet fixes. You’re in good hands with him.
I called Drew on a Friday and he came out and did a small job (adding one outlet) on Monday for a very competitive price. My husband (who was present) said he was a good dude and I am going to keep him in mind for future electrical work! Thanks Drew!
Drew is an honest knowledgeable electrician. I’ll absolutely call him for our next job.
