Malden homeowners who post on Nextdoor call Drew McFarland Electrician their go-to when something electrical needs fixing, and the pattern in his reviews explains why: he's the guy who works with what's already in the walls instead of pushing a full rewire. The clearest example is a June 2026 review from a customer whose previous electrician couldn't untangle a messy, decades-old wiring setup. Drew solved it in about three hours, working with the existing wiring rather than talking the homeowner into ripping it all out for new Romex, and pointed out other fixes worth doing later without pressuring for them. A few weeks earlier, another reviewer credited him and his crew with replacing a breaker box, installing EV charging, and knocking out several smaller light and outlet fixes in the same visit. On Google he sits at 4.7 stars from 35 ratings, and the last six months haven't produced a single negative review among the three posted there. That's part of a longer run — reviews go back to 2022 across three different sites — though the earlier stretch of that history reads a little less uniformly glowing than the recent run. He also turns up on My Local Services and Pros.Boston, but neither has a single review posted yet; Google is really where his reputation lives right now. He's a reasonable call for a small single-fix job or a bigger panel or EV-charger project, especially if a previous electrician left wiring nobody wants to touch. Worth confirming pricing and timeline directly, since neither is documented anywhere public.

I recommend Drew. He was recommended to me by a neighbor in Malden. In 3 hours, he solved a messy ancient slipshod wiring issue that the previous electrician couldn't. He worked knowledgeably with the existing old wiring rather than trying to convince me to replace everything with Romex. He pointed out other improvements that should be made to the wiring, but did not pressure, scare, shame, etc... me into doing anything but the essentials to fix what was broken. He and helper Joe seem like genuinely good people.

Drew and his team are just straight up good people. They don’t screw you around. They communicate well and do what needs to be done. Not only is Drew my go to electrician but he’s my plumber’s too. He’s replaced my breaker box, installed ev charging, done minor light and outlet fixes. You’re in good hands with him.

I called Drew on a Friday and he came out and did a small job (adding one outlet) on Monday for a very competitive price. My husband (who was present) said he was a good dude and I am going to keep him in mind for future electrical work! Thanks Drew!
