Efficiency Plumbing, Heating & Air

Efficiency Plumbing, Heating & Air works out of Hanover, taking on plumbing, heating and air conditioning calls across the South Shore — everything from a clogged drain to a full heat pump swap. The company's own site says it has served the area since 2015, though a separate banner on the same site claims over 15 years, so the exact starting point is worth asking about rather than taking at face value. The record runs deep and consistent. Reviews go back to 2017, when the shop — then listed on Houzz as Efficiency Plumbing & Remodeling — was already being credited for a full combi-boiler replacement in South Boston and a tub-to-shower conversion with grab bars for an aging-in-place customer. The same pattern holds through 114 reviews across six platforms since: customers keep naming the same technicians, Mike, Carlos and Pat among them, for showing up fast and walking through the fix in plain terms. A 2024 review described a furnace back up and running within a couple hours of a late-night call about no hot water; a more recent one had a broken AC condenser part diagnosed and repaired within twenty minutes of arrival. That pace hasn't slowed — 14 reviews in the last six months, none of them negative, on jobs from AC compressor replacements to routine heating maintenance. The heating and cooling side is where the volume sits — furnace and heat pump installs, gas conversions, AC repair — but the plumbing work is real too: drain cleaning, water heater installs and replacements, and a whole-house water filtration system. That combination shows up in the numbers as well, a 4.9-star average across 142 Google reviews matched by a 4.9 on Houzz. Two things worth asking about before booking. One customer found that an advertised central A/C tune-up special didn't actually include cleaning the outside condenser, so it's worth pinning down exactly what a promotional package covers. And while the Better Business Bureau grades the company A+, the state registry lists its Massachusetts plumbing license — held under the related name High Efficiency Plumbing & Heating Inc — as expired, so anyone hiring specifically for plumbing work should ask about current licensing. For a South Shore homeowner who wants one shop that handles both the furnace and the pipes and answers the phone quickly, this is a well-established call — just confirm what any special actually includes and check on the plumbing license first.
