Highlights

  • Detail-oriented — documented progress, caught hidden problems early
  • Responsive fixes — resolved project hiccups to customers' satisfaction
  • Craftsmanship — praised for tile, stone, and carpentry work
  • One-person operation — illness once delayed a 2008 project
  • Prioritization — a 2007 review said the job felt deprioritized

Esposito Construction is Sam Esposito's small, craftsman-style outfit, historically doing detailed carpentry, tile, and masonry work — custom counters, stone walls, brick and stone repair, and historical-home renovation are the specialties named across its directory listings. Every review on file dates from 2007 to 2016, so this is a look at an older track record rather than current practice. The written accounts describe a hands-on, detail-oriented operator. In a 2015 review, a customer said Sam documented progress with photos while they were away, caught unexpected complications (a ceiling leak, hidden termites, a poorly fitting door) as he went, and still finished ahead of schedule. Another 2015 review describes a retaining wall and walkway rebuild with a "little hiccup" that Sam resolved responsively, and a 2016 review credits him with a budget-conscious kitchen renovation. The downside of a one-person operation shows up too. A 2008 review said the client had to wait when Mr. Esposito got sick mid-project and paid extra for specialized cutting work, though they called the final fence result strong. An earlier 2007 review was more pointed, saying the job felt deprioritized once a bigger contract came in, while still calling Samuel "a very talented craftsman". There's no review activity on file after 2016, so treat this as a read on past work rather than a current status check — confirm the business is still active before reaching out. Worth noting: HomeAdvisor's 2008 listing places the business in Marblehead with 34 years of experience claimed, while Angi's 2015-2016 listing places it in Peabody with 29 years claimed — a discrepancy in location and tenure worth asking about directly.

Sam and his crew were great to work with. They rebuilt our damaged retaining wall and created a beautiful new walkway for us. We had one little hiccup with the project and Sam was very responsive and made sure we were completely happy. I would recommend them to a friend.

They spent time explaining what was going on and taking pictures to document their progress for me when I could not be there. When unexpected complications arose Sam notified me and was able to take care of them and still finish the project ahead of schedule. I had a leak from the ceiling into a light fixture. Sam took down the ceiling, cleaned up all the damage and put in new insulation & light. When he found evidence of termites he alerted me and sprayed the area. When he noticed the door to the outside from that room wasn't fitting well he alerted me and attempted to address the situation.

We chose this small company because Mr. Esposito is a perfectionist who will try creative ways to get the result he wants. The downside of choosing a small company is that if the primary person gets sick, the client has to wait until he gets well enough to work. Unfortunately this happened. Both he and we were frustrated by the delay. And he had to use a diamond-tipped saw to cut away some ledge-- we had to pay extra for that. But the result is a great fence.
