Falconi Energy delivers heating oil and services oil, gas and air-conditioning systems from 29 Boston Rd in Southborough, and it also runs the full-service filling station at the same address. The company says it has been family owned since 1935 — three generations, starting in coal and kerosene — and its BBB file, opened in 1997 and accredited since 1998, carries an A+ grade with James Falconi listed as president. When the heat fails, customers say the response is fast and the technician is good. A February 2026 reviewer whose furnace was short-cycling on the coldest day of the winter credited a technician named Matt with driving through a two-foot snowstorm to fix it; a November 2025 reviewer said their mother's oil heater was serviced within an hour of the call and named the same technician. Another Southborough resident's Reddit comment in August 2026 simply said they were very pleased with the company. The complaints, though, are about how customers are treated rather than about the equipment. A February 2026 reviewer described customer-service staff who "yell back at you" and said they regretted paying the company's oil price. A BBB reviewer wrote that they were screamed at by the owner. And a July 2026 one-star review headed "ELDERLY BEWARE" alleges that technicians on a water-heater call bought several thousand dollars' worth of computer equipment from the reviewer's 70-year-old step-mother for $200 — an allegation about conduct in a customer's home, and one the company has not answered anywhere in this evidence. The volume behind all this is small: 3.7 stars from 31 Google ratings and eight written reviews on file since 2023, so a couple of bad experiences move the picture a long way. Two Massachusetts Department of Public Safety licences (BU-018975 and PJU-001602, both expiring 1/27/2027) are listed by the BBB rather than verified here. If you want oil delivery and routine burner service in MetroWest from a long-established local supplier, the service record here is genuinely good. Read the July 2026 review before you let a crew work unaccompanied in the home of an older relative, and confirm pricing and licence status directly.
“i was very pleased with Falconi in Southborough”
“says Jimmy Falconi, the owner of Falconi Energy”
“Falconi Energy has been providing fuel to residents and businesses since 1935. The company has diversified to provide gas and oil fired heating and domestic hot water system installation and service, as well as air conditioning installation and service.”
ELDERLY BEWARE Had falconi out for a water heater incident. I was out for work and while they were there my step mother had wanted to clear out the house. She had brought up my pc equipment, multiple thousands of dollars. The techs were aware that the equipment was of some value, maybe not the full price, however they had purposely low balled her $200, less than a fraction of a fraction of the value without questioning why a 70 year old woman would be selling such advanced equipment, or questioning some of the parts there weren't even in yet which a google search would show was over $600. And because she was a tech illiterate 70 year old woman, she made the sale. So these techs, because a transaction was made, it doesn't matter how much they swindled her for. they don't care that they were in the company van, representing their company, or that this was a long term customer with them. They saw an opportunity to make a disgusting profit under her nose and didn't think twice. Then when returning it acted indignant to the idea that getting a 70 year old woman to sell something worth thousands for $200 could be seen as fraudulent, even criminal, and that I would be upset that the owner of the company for taking their side despite there being laws against this type of fraudulent misrepresentation of a sale. The seller shouldn't have been selling, the buyers NEVER should have been buying. People entering a customer's home have a RESPONSIBILITY to not take advantage of their CUSTOMERS. It is standard procedure in any other service company I've seen in worked for to NEVER allow any personal sales with ANY risk of representing the company- like only being there because of a service call, in a company van REGARDLESS of if it was "off hours". Keep your elderly and uninformed away from falconi techs. They'll gladly take advantage of them for thousands. they did return it, it should have NEVER been taken in the first place. This is not the first time they've done this, I firmly believe this is habit if it happened once and they were this indignant. I'll let people who read this decide if this is who they want in their homes. To respond to the response: To follow your timeline of events, the technicians came, were offered the hardware, refused, ~2-3 hours later returned, and at no point had looked up any prices of equipment, had any input at all on the pricing of the equipment, and found it completely reasonable and not worth investigating any of these products for the possibility of ripping off one of YOUR customers while loading the hardware into the work van on camera? At best this is a gross negilgence (which I still highly doubt given the timeline and my own stepmothers claims of what was said) and a great example of why a company should never, ever allow personal transactions with customers like this. They were still driving your van and worked on her boiler a few hours before. They were still representing falconi by using their connection through this business. How many times have they "driven back" to one of your customers and done this? Even if we call it an accident, how many customers have lost thousands, maybe even tens of thousands to your technicians' negligence to keep the customer's best interests in mind, because they could make a one-sided profit if they didn't look too close? And that is all implying that at no point did either the senior or the apprentice once consider looking at a single price point, or recognize how grossly low $200 would be for anything remotely like this. While I was not perfect, I had every reason to not trust a business that claims 91 years of high quality service while allowing technicians to do something like this. Either the business is permissible in possibly defrauding customers without consequence after 91 years to learn, or the employees were willingly ignoring the rules and gravely harmed my step mother. There is no alternative. I maintained as much profesionalism as I could, the indignancy to deny wrongdoing was upsetting.
I wish I could give 0 star if that was an option. All the customer service reps are extremely rude, including Kathy and Deb (long time ago). They don't show any listening to your issue, but just simply yell back at you questioning why you ask such a question. I regret so much paying for their heating oil at such a high price. Do NOT recommend their service! This is to re the owner's reply: If Kathy was doing and saying something in your third paragraph the other day, I wouldn't end up writing this review. Also I am disappointed again that my experience with Kathy was twisted. What you described in your reply was NOT my true experience with Kathy. Kathy didn't allow me to finish describing my question first at all. I said a few times that "can you listen to me and can you allow me to say my question first? can I talk to your owner because you are impatient". As a customer, I have the right to bring a conflict between the email receipt time and the delivery time to the customer service but Kathy didn't care what my confusion was. She was very emotional and just simply said "does this matter? you got your oil! why you cared what time was sent? why weren't you at home?" she didn't listen to me saying which time was first and what was second because she was impatient and rude. I have been using your service since 2019 but I am so disappointed about how Kathy handles a customer's question/confusion. You are not the first business I brought a confusion to, but I've never encountered a customer service shouting at me and not allowing me to finish my question. As a business stationed in Southborough, you should think about why you lose so many customers living in Southborough. To be honest, if the customer service reps can be more patient and professional, you will earn more business from the local community. But again if you always choose to believe your employee side of the story and ignore customer's true experience, the last bit of hope that your business will take good care of customers will be gone.
Were very helpful and responsive. Had an issue with our furnace looping on the coldest day we have had this winter. They sent Matt out and he was just awesome. Very pleasant and professional, despite having driven through a snow storm that dumped almost 2 feet of snow. Thank you, Matt. Every time they send you over, I know I am in good hands.
Best gas station central Massachusetts No competition!
My mom’s oil heater was not turning on and they sent service within an hour for her! Matt was kind, fast and efficient! Her home is warm again, thank you!
