Fawcett Energy is a family-owned Massachusetts heating-oil and HVAC company whose website says it traces its roots to Cambridge in 1894 and is now run by Red, Rob, and Ben Fawcett. Its Worcester profile covers residential oil delivery, heating and air-conditioning installation and repair, boiler work, oil-tank replacement, and service plans; the company also says its technicians are NATE-certified and offers emergency support. The available customer record is sharply negative. Google shows 2.2 stars from 10 ratings, with five retrievable reviews from 2023–2026; the 2026 review criticizes oil prices, while older reviews describe a delayed $750 delivery payment release, a two-month wait for a furnace and tank estimate, an emergency-service dispute over a boiler, and concerns about delivery quantities. Ask for current oil pricing, delivery and refund timelines, estimate turnaround, and emergency-service terms before booking. Several Reddit comments are from Medford, Somerville, or the North Shore rather than Worcester, so they provide context about the company but not Worcester-specific experience; one mentions a service contract with a free tune-up.
“I have a service contract that costs a couple hundred dollars and provides for a free tune up”
“I'm in Somerville. I'm not locked into the price, but it feels wildly more expensive than anything I'm seeing on that New England Oil site”
“I have Fawcett and my latest bill (from just today) was $4.8990 per gallon, which is WAY higher than the others that I'm seeing”
“I think he’s more concerned fawcett is going to go under based on the comment on cost.”
“I got a mailer from fawcett today!”
Fawcett has the highest prices for home heating oil. Not even close to competitive, just greedy!!
This company took $750.00 off my credit card to hold for my oil delivery. When I called them 2 days later asking why I hadn't received the delivery, they told me I wasn't even on the list. They use your money...very sleazy business practices. It took me 7 days and 5 phone calls to get the money released back to me. Needless to say, I will not longer do business with this company. The Better Business Bureau and the AG should be looking at this company.
We were with this company for a very long time, but that didn't seem to matter to them. We requested an estimate to replace our furnace and oil tank. 2 months later we were still waiting for the estimate and contract even though we were told they were sending it immediately. All I can say is run! I wouldn't trust this company to stand behind any work they do, if you could even get them to do any work you need done.
This company is THE WORST! Avoid. Do not use them for anything. They refused emergency service on my 2 year old boiler they installed for $8K because I do not purchase oil from them. Somehow this detail was not listed on my purchase agreement for the boiler. I called Peterson Oil who walked me through literally a one minute step to restore heat. Buyer beware.
Had this company last year and they were filling up to 2 times a month. With my new company lakeside, they filled in November 2022 and I still have a little over 1/2 tank now in February 2023. To say the least, this company is not honest about what they deliver and charge
