Two 1-star reviews in a single July week, sitting under a 5-star Google average built from 242 ratings — that tension is the first thing worth knowing about Fenway Cleaning Services, a Boston cleaning company whose entire written history runs 2025 to 2026. The job people hire them for is the transition clean: the empty apartment before the boxes arrive, the place you are handing back to a landlord. One customer moving in after a tenant with a cat described a cleaner named Esther working inside the cabinets, behind the fridge, along the baseboards and window frames. Another, moving into Southie, said the leftover dust was gone from the cabinets and baseboards and the crew arrived when it said it would. Speed is the other refrain. Somebody called one morning and had cleaners that afternoon; an Airbnb host whose guest left the place a mess got it cleaned the same day; a seller had a two-family deep-cleaned on a few days' notice before listing photos. Reviewers name their cleaners — Esther, Helena, Claire — which tends to happen when the same people keep showing up. Thumbtack shows 4.9 stars across 94 ratings, and the Better Business Bureau page carries an A- grade. Two recent accounts cut the other way, and both are specific. A homeowner who booked a move-in deep clean of an empty apartment asked in advance for the greasy kitchen and the tops of the cabinet doors to get extra attention, then found grease on the cabinet surfaces, dirty floors and other missed areas; the company scheduled a re-clean. A second customer said the first appointment was forgotten, then was charged $200 on the day before being emailed hours later that the cleaner could not find parking. Both were posted in July 2026. So ask what happens when a walkthrough turns up missed areas, and put the greasy-kitchen scope in writing before the crew arrives. If your street parking is tight — and in Boston it usually is — settle where the cleaner will leave the car when you book. They also take commercial rooms; a shop inside the Boston Public Market said the space came back clean and organized. But the bulk of this business is short-notice residential deep cleaning, and that is the job to call them for.
