Flavin & Flavin is a Quincy real estate brokerage that says it has been family-run since 1925 and also operates an insurance agency alongside its home sales work. The website names Mike Flavin as President and John Flavin as Broker, with Edward P. Flavin listed in memoriam as a past president. The Better Business Bureau gives the firm an A+ grade and has accredited it since 2017. That long history sits alongside a serious episode: in October 2022, a real estate industry news outlet reported that Michael Flavin, one of the firm's owners, was sentenced to prison after a three-year scheme that defrauded prospective homebuyers of millions of dollars. A review from the same month named the case directly, warning readers the company couldn't be trusted. The rest of the record is a mix, spread thin across just seven reviews since 2022. On the positive side, a 2022 review — before the case became public — praised an agent for a personal, community-connected sale, and a 2026 review described an agent named Amanda handling the sale of a parent's home with care during a difficult time. On the other side, a 2022 review said an agent entered an occupied home unannounced while a lockbox key was in use during a sale; a 2023 review alleged an insurance policy sold by the firm paid out far less than the coverage an owner had promised; another from 2023 said the company looks out only for its own interests; and a 2024 review said simply that a once-strong business isn't what it used to be. Given the criminal case involving one of the owners and the spread of pointed complaints since, it's worth confirming who currently runs day-to-day operations and getting any insurance coverage details in writing before signing anything. The brokerage can still work out well with the right individual agent — reviewers single out specific people by name — so ask directly who will be handling the transaction.

I worked with Amanda to sell my parents home after their passing. Amanda was caring and showed compassion at a very difficult time in my life. She went above and beyond as a realtor helping place item on marketplace and even meeting with the buyers for the items. I was kept in the loop and never felt that I did not know where the sale was at any point in the process. I would highly recommend Flavin and Flavin if you are looking to buy or sell a home.
Once a great business is now a far cry from what it was. Very disappointing.
This company is only interested in their own outcome. Clients wants and needs are not their concern. Do not trust these people. You’ve been warned!
Be careful before doing business with them. I signed an insurance policy with them for a certain amount of coverage and when something happened I got a fraction of the payout even though Tim Flavin one of the owners said I was covered when Safety said otherwise which I never had any contact with about the policy Flavin & Flavin just hid behind Utica instead of making things right. It falls in line with Mike Flavin stealing about $1.8 million from people pretending to sell houses that were not actually for sale and got sentenced to 30 months in prison. My opinion is go somewhere else that is actually reputable and stand behind what they said if something does happen rather than running to their lawyers and insurance company to get out of it any way possible
Not trust worthy. One of the owners, Michael P. Flavin, is literally going to prison for defrauding people. Do NOT give these people $! They are criminals!
