Frank's Heating Service works out of 555 Woburn St in Tewksbury and describes itself as a residential and light-commercial heating and cooling contractor, handling furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air conditioners and ductless mini-splits across eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. The Better Business Bureau records the business as having started on 1 January 1981. Massachusetts's state licence registry lists an active HVAC licence, 69-SM-B, held by Hillis Corp doing business as Franks Heating Service. The deepest praise is about installation work and about individual technicians by name. A homeowner replacing a whole AC and furnace system wrote in August 2025 that of four quotes, only Frank's took the time to measure the house and size the unit to it rather than swapping in the same oversized equipment, and that the electric bill dropped afterwards. Another described an unusual-shaped house with a maze of baseboards where the company mixed traditional heating with ducted and ductless heat pumps, finished within a week using several crews, and left no mess. A June 2026 customer described a next-business-day visit for a central AC failure where a junior technician's notes were reviewed by a senior technician who came back out to verify the diagnosis before any parts were ordered. Names recur across years — Chang, Craig, Greg, Justin, Tim, Ivan — which is the pattern of a stable crew rather than a rotating one. The complaints cluster around price and around installs that had to be revisited. A February 2026 reviewer says they were quoted $1,900 for a gas valve they priced at $500, declined, and found the diagnosis itself was wrong. A January 2025 reviewer whose community had all its HVAC installed by the company described the exhaust flue sagging and collecting water, blocking the pipe in a finished basement ceiling. A July 2024 customer said a replaced condenser was never tested, and the fan unit turned out to have seized. Two more reviewers, in 2024 and 2025, flagged high pricing specifically — one on a $589 thermostat swap, one warning to get everything in writing after the initial quote. The honest read is a competent installer with an experienced crew whose pricing and follow-through are the recurring sore points. If you are getting a system replaced, this is the kind of shop worth getting a quote from — and worth getting that quote itemised in writing, along with a written commitment on post-install testing and callbacks.
“Frank's Heating (Tewksbury) or Eric Foster's (Chelmsford). I've hired both and both are excellent. Very communicative, explain things well, and respectful in my home. I'm not affiliated with either in any way, just a happy customer.”
“General Manager, Frank's Heating”
I had Frank’s come look at our central AC as it had been working then suddenly stopped blowing cold and I couldn’t figure out why. They came out the next business day and Chang was the technician. He was great. Professional and courteous. Diagnosed the problem and gave us a quote. The next day I was contacted by the main office and they wanted to send a senior technician (Rich) out to further check something as he had been reviewing Chang’s (junior technician) notes and before they ordered parts he wanted to verify. Rich came out and was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and figured out what the problem was and was able to circumvent it without having to replace anything. Saved me $$$$ and had the AC blowing ice cold before he left. Thank you to the whole team from the top to the bottom, I really appreciate your thorough work and quick response.
Justin P did an outstanding job. He has a great attitude, answered all my questions, and delivered excellent work. For any future service from this company, I will always request Justin. Highly recommended.
Tried to charge me $1,900 for a $500 gas valve (I should have warned Howard I have access to the Internet). I said no and got another contractor - and turns out they were even wrong about the gas valve they wanted to over charge me for. RUN.
I was really satisfied with my experience with Frank's Heating & Air Conditioning. They were able to schedule us within a week or so. Junior and another fellow I didn't catch the name of came and did a clean, efficient job, accommodating all the tricky requirements of the job and even assisting with a few other things I had asked for. The intention was only to relocate a duct to allow for some other work, but the heat even ended up working better after they were done.
Frank's is very professional courteous and reasonably priced with making you the priority. I recommend their services to anyone seeking an honest efficient and reasonable service. They really go above and beyond to meet your needs. I will never call anyone else because they deliver far beyond expectations. I can't say enough on how great this company is!!! If you are seeking a reliable service that will treat you like family look no further!!!
