In a November 2023 Google review, a customer said that twice in about three years they forgot to put their bins out, and both times the driver walked down the driveway, got the cans from beside the house and emptied them — the first time with a trainee along. Gauthier Trucking, based at 5 Gauthier Drive in Essex Junction, hauls household trash and recycling; its website says it has 60 years of industry experience and, elsewhere, 76 years in business, and lists Burlington, Addison, Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle as its service area. Its Google page shows 3.7 stars from 55 ratings, and its BBB grade is A+. In an October 2024 review, a customer said this was the third time in a year they forgot their bins and the drivers stopped, walked to the back and got them. In July 2025, a customer whose garbage raccoons had strewn across the lawn came home twenty minutes later to a clean scene, crediting Mary and her helper. In an August 2025 review, a customer who switched from Casella after decades praised Denise in the office and their driver, Travis. In October 2025, a condo association's previous trash company had pulled its dumpsters right before Thanksgiving; the reviewer said Denise was very kind and set their mind at ease, and the company came within the hour with a few dumpsters. In February 2025 a customer said their recycling had not been picked up for almost a month and they were switching companies. In August 2025 another said the crew took their recycling but left their trash, with no follow-up, after many poor experiences over ten years. In May 2026 a reviewer biking with a toddler on the back said one of its drivers almost forced them off a residential street in the Old North End. In July 2025, a driver said a Gauthier truck nearly pushed them out of their lane near SBHS in a school zone, and the supervisor never called back. In March 2025, a reviewer said a driver backed up in the middle of E Allen Street to turn onto Roland Street and nearly hit their car. Google reviewers in February 2024 and April 2025 described trash falling out of the backs of its trucks. In a July 2026 r/vermont comment, someone trying to set up household trash pickup said the person setting up accounts kept insisting they needed a dumpster. In an August 2024 r/burlington comment, a commenter said the company dropped a dumpster on a customer's car at work and paid only after camera footage was reviewed.
