A recent Google reviewer whose 100+ year old home needed a rebuilt front entry and roof says John built exactly the design from the reviewer's picture, including an entryway ceiling with built-in lighting. That recent reviewer says John Grant's crew was always there first thing in the morning and left the job site spotless, and that John was up front and reasonable with costs when a large portion of the deck turned out to be rotted. The reviewer then had Grant Building Group rebuild the deck, including power washing and treating existing and new railings and adding gates. A recent reviewer hired the company to replace two leaking skylights and says the problem was fixed within the quote and timeline, with the shingles matched and the inside trim finished. A recent reviewer says John and his team were friendly and efficient. A 2025 reviewer said John and his team were timely, responsive and thorough on a 2024 kitchen remodel and mudroom addition, and that the site was kept clean. A 2025 reviewer said John and crew helped rescue and transform the reviewer's barn and that the estimate of cost was spot on. A 2024 reviewer said Grant Building Group took a house redesign from architectural plans all the way to finish work, using other contractors for drywall, electrical, plumbing and painting. A 2024 reviewer said John Grant and his crew were not the cheapest around but delivered quality craftsmanship with no shortcuts. A 2024 reviewer who had a two-sided see-through fireplace replaced said John Grant started when he said he would and stuck to the schedule he gave. A 2023 reviewer said that, two months into a kitchen remodel with a recommended contractor, the reviewer was given John Grant's name to finish it, and that John offered to finish and fix the cabinets, toe kicks and trim. A 2023 reviewer said GBG built an addition that expanded the home's footprint and included a bathroom. A 2026 reviewer said the job came in $3500 over the original quote and that the Anderson door installed was inferior. That 2026 reviewer said John refused a replacement door, blaming Anderson, and that the glass later fell from the rubber gasket that holds it in place. The same 2026 reviewer said trim replaced around both garage doors lifted and separated, and that a discount promised for paying in cash did not happen. In an edit 1.5 years after the work, that 2026 reviewer said the storm door had to be replaced at the reviewer's own expense.
Loved the work John and his team put in to taking care of the projects we needed done. They were friendly, and efficient with what they got done. They put in an incredible amount of time and effort into the project, and we could not be happier with the outstanding results. Next project we need done, this team will definitely be getting another call. Highly recommend Grant Building Group to anyone who needs contracting services.
Grant Building Group was a pleasure to work with. Due to a harsh winter and a 100+ years old home, I needed to rebuild a front entry and roof. I had a photo of the design I wanted and my neighbor, who had worked with John Grant, recommended his company. John and his crew, James, Jason, Ben, and Brady were great to work with. The crew was always there first thing in the morning, showed pride in their work, and always left the job site spotless. From my picture, John not only built exactly what I envisioned, but exceeded my expectations, including a beautiful entryway ceiling with built in lighting. John was up front and reasonable with costs, especially when we realized a large portion of my deck had rotted. In the end, I was so happy with Grant Building Group’s work that I had them rebuild the deck, including power washing and treating existing and new railings, and even gates to keep my four legged friend from going off on adventures! I love my new outdoor living space and highly recommend Grant Building Group. I will definitely call them for my next project!
Hired to replace two leaking skylights. They were correcting with someone else's mistakes. The work was very professional done. Within the quote and timeline. They fixed the problem. Matched the shingles. Finished the inside trim and left everything cleaner then when the started. Highly recommended. Matt
Overcharged us $3500 over the original quote. He installed an Anderson door that was inferior and was told it was my problem the day after he installed it. We had to contact Anderson for the replacement glass. When we finally had his crew member come back ( months later) he broke a part . At this point we wanted a new replacement door which John refused blaming Anderson. We called Anderson to have the part that was broke sent. John was very rude when he cane to replace the glass like it was our fault! This was in June. Now in September the glass has fallen from the rubber gasket that holds it in place & we have a large gap! John improperly installed the glass. Anderson refuses to send a new door which SHOULD have been immediately replaced right after the installation! I reported the issue to John the day after they installed it. Second problem, the trim his crew replaced around the garage lifted & separated in the top corners of BOTH garage doors & along the sides . My husband had to re-caulk, nail, & repaint all of it. Very disappointed not only in the workmanship, but Johns lack of integrity & honestly when giving us a quote to begin with. We were told we would get a discount for paying in cash. That definitely didn’t happen! I requested many time for invoices & was told “ he doesn’t normally do that “. I asked again & what I received was very vague. When the final bill came it was several thousand over the quote! I would.NOT recommend him. If you decide to move forward with his company make sure you receive an original quote & invoices! Our bad for not withholding the final payment until he replaced the door & not require a year warranty on the workmanship in writing . Edit its been 1.5 years since this company worked on our house. We’ve now had to completely pay to replace the storm door he installed. It was expensive & we never should have had to pay for a brand new storm door replacement. The front door that was replaced had to be fixed because it’s nearly impossible to open due to sticking extremely bad. My husband has had to redo the trim around the garage doors and repaint. Today we noticed the trim around the top of the front door has pulled away and now my husband has to take it apart , re- nail & paint! Absolutely subpar work. The new contractor who replaced the storm door was SHOCKED & DISGUSTED by the way we have been treated & the shoddy work that done., Beware! Not only will you be paying well over the amount that John originally quoted but you’ll be getting a contractor who has a terrible work ethic!
Thrilled I found Grant Building Group for my 2024 kitchen remodel and mudroom addition. John and his team were timely, responsive, and thorough. Best of all the site was kept clean so I didn't have to come home to a mess. I would recommend as well as call GBG again for another project. Thanks guys!
