Grassey Residential Carpentry is a Franklin-based carpenter for the detail-heavy work that makes a house feel finished: banisters, doors, window boxes, trim, decks, and repairs. BuildZoom says the company has 15 years of residential-carpentry experience and lists Nicholas "Cole" Grassey as owner/operator; its own profile describes work from small repairs through complete remodels. The customer history is small but unusually specific. In a July 2025 Google review, a homeowner praised a banister refinish and installation for quick response, careful planning, communication, and top-quality finish work. Older Google reviews describe interior doors and window boxes, a porch railing, bathroom grab bars, and a front-door replacement; the 2023 Angi review calls the work meticulous, trustworthy, and easy to work with. Before booking, confirm the exact scope and license paperwork for your project. The Massachusetts home-improvement contractor registration 203872 and construction-supervisor license CS-120303 are registry-verified active; BuildZoom also lists Rhode Island registration GC-47543. This looks like a sensible fit for finish carpentry, exterior repairs, decks, and smaller remodeling projects where precision matters. Ask for a written scope, schedule, and the applicable license details before work begins.
I called GRC to refinish and install new banisters in my house in the stairwell. He was quick to respond with a quote and had great communication and planning skills. The finish work was top quality. I would highly recommend Cole for interior projects that require attention to detail and need to be done right.
I recently engaged Cole to install some interior doors and window boxes in my basement. He did an absolutely stellar job and his quote was right on the money. In particular, I have some alarm sensors on my windows, and most contractors would have just notched out a hole for them, but Cole took the time to router out a perfect profile so the boxes fit perfectly around them. It's that attention to detail we all want with a contractor. I'll absolutely be working with him (his schedule permitting) on some follow up projects as well to finish off my basement. I've worked with many different contractors in a variety of situations over the years, and few are as organized and professional as Cole. He is a true craftsman and takes pride in his work, but what really separates him is his communication, his desire to fully understand the requirements from the perspective of the homeowner, and how organized and clean he is on the job site (particularly, since it's your home). If you need Carpentry, or really any other handyman services, RUN, don't walk to Grassey Residential Carpentry. You can rest assured you're going to have a great experience with Cole.
He leaves everything lean he is meticulous, trustworthy and easy to work with.
GRC added a railing on the stairs on our Farmers Porch. It looks great and also like it has always been there. Inside, GRC added grab bars to our master bathroom. The work was done with precision and clean up was perfect! From our initial contact with GRC, with an on-site visit followed by the estimates, the great communication and professional work we are extremely pleased. There are more projects being planned for GRC to do at our home!
I love my new front door.
