The jobs people describe here are not one-visit spray jobs. They are rodent exclusions: find how the animals are getting in, close it, then trap until the building is clear. A homeowner writing in August 2021 traced a rat problem in a two-unit duplex to a corroded cast-iron sewer line, and described the company sealing the living areas off from the basement and trapping through the whole replacement until both units were clear. Green Planet Pest Control runs out of Allston, with a BBB file listing the company in Newtonville under president Todd McNamara and vice president Colin Hickey and four employees. Its BBB start date is January 2007, which lines up with the 18 years of experience it claims. The pitch is low-impact treatment — targeting the source rather than blanket spraying — and customers writing in 2016 and 2023 both said that is what they got, one describing a single spot-treated area inside the kitchen plus a few exterior entry points. Both named principals keep turning up by name across a decade of reviews, which is a good sign in a small shop: Todd in 2016 and again in 2023, Collin in 2016 calling a customer back on a Saturday. Prices are published too, from a $90 visit up to $1,500 rodent work, and the 44 Angi ratings sit at a flat 5.0. Two accounts are honest about friction rather than glowing: a 2023 customer said the first technician sent out arrived without the right equipment and seemed less knowledgeable, and a 2017 customer marked them down on punctuality after the company lost a work order — both said it was resolved and both would hire again. Two things temper it. The written history is dated — the newest account is from June 2024, and much of the volume sits in 2014–2017. And nine of the visible reviews carry five stars with no text at all, so the headline count is thicker than the readable record behind it. On credentials: its BBB page shows an A+ rating, but the company is explicitly NOT BBB accredited — those are two separate facts. The only licence statement anywhere is the company's own, that its staff includes a certified entomologist with a master's in entomology holding Massachusetts licences in General Pest and Wood-destroying organisms; no numbers are given and none has been checked against the state. A sensible call for a rodent or ant problem in Greater Boston, particularly if you want the entry points found rather than the symptoms sprayed. Ask which technician is coming, and ask for the pesticide licence number so you can verify it with the state.

The owner and person who coordinated the visits etc were excellent - very knowledgeable and professional and took care of our ant problem. That said the first person they sent out didn't bring the right equipment and didn't seem as knowledgeable. Nonetheless they took care of it and did so without spraying a ton of harmful chemicals in the house which I appreciate. Thank you!

I can't speak highly enough of the work that Todd and his crew do. I had a major problem with mice and also rats. I had been working with another exterminator that couldn't get it done. Todd came with his crew and turned the house upside down and got rid of all the pests. This was months ago, and everything still looks good! No mice, no rats. I ran into another problem with the warranty of my refrigerator, which was voided due to these rodent issues. I reached out and even months after the fact, Todd took care of everything I needed! If you have a pest issue, stop reading reviews and just call them.
