Groundworks is what a lot of Massachusetts homeowners' Rescon Basement Solutions or Busy Dog paperwork now falls under — the company consolidated several regional basement-waterproofing outfits under one national brand, and reviewers still call out both old names by habit. Out of a Burlington office, with crews also dispatched from Plainville, Manchester and even Rhode Island, it handles basement waterproofing, sump pumps, foundation repair and crawl-space encapsulation, and its online reviews run overwhelmingly positive — 4.8 stars across 138 Google ratings, 4.9 across 375 on Best Pick Reports. The positive reviews are specific and repeat the same names: Xander Brooks, Mark Robichaud, Coy Tanner and Justin Reyes come up again and again for thorough, patient walkthroughs of century-old-basement problems. In a 2024 review, a customer described a 4-day job with daily updates on unexpected challenges and a full system walkthrough — power failure behavior, warranty, battery back-up — at the end. A recent review describes a technician who personally drove up from Rhode Island to fix a bad initial customer-service experience. In a 2025 review, an inspector examined a home and told the owner the work they'd called about wasn't actually needed. But a real minority of reviews describe serious problems, and one is worth taking seriously on its own. A recent review says an $8,000 mold and water-damage remediation was needed after the company's own earlier drain and sump-pump installation, and that raising the issue got a $6,581 upgrade offer instead of a fix for the original work. Another recent review describes a $3,900 financed down payment for a beam repair and no crew showing up for nearly a year before the customer canceled. A 2025 review says the switch to the Groundworks brand changed how open-wall repairs get finished, leaving the reviewer to pay separately to rebuild interior walls the crew tore out and never replaced. And in a 2024 review, the reviewer states they had an open Better Business Bureau complaint and an active Massachusetts Attorney General investigation open over improperly installed moisture barrier. Given that split — a strong majority of well-documented good jobs against a real minority of installation-quality and follow-through complaints, including a regulatory inquiry — get scope, what happens to any torn-out walls, and a firm install date in writing before signing, and ask which office and crew would be handling your job.
Busy Dog (now Groundworks) installed the French drain and sump pump system in my basement before I purchased my home. During a recent renovation, we discovered mold, mildew, water damage, and a missing vapor barrier behind a finished basement wall, resulting in over $8,000 in remediation and reconstruction costs that insurance would not cover. After raising these concerns, Groundworks provided a complimentary inspection but then proposed a $6,581.43 upgrade and service contract instead of addressing the significant damage and questions surrounding the original installation. During that same visit, the technician also damaged my sump pit cover. I'm still waiting for meaningful accountability and a response from management.
Footing expansion work. The office doesn't organize efficiently, but the final work was delivered nicely. Special thanks to Guiles Hall, Jason Lewis and Keven Bristo.
Poor service. I signed a contract with your branch office in plainville Mass in July 2025 and pay a financed down payment of $3,900.00 to come and fix rooted beam in my property they didn’t show up until I canceled the contract in June 2026. They waisted my time for one year and refused to refund my down payment with interest. Especially, Zach stein, the Sales Manager; he never responded to my email, also, Steven the field Salesman is a scammer. Please public be aware of this company that they are scammers and stay away from them. They posted flashy advertisements but that is not what they represent. Thank you. Signed by - Moses Olatunde
Justin Reyes was the lead contractor at our project. Not only was he incredibly responsive and efficient but he was able to get the work that was needed to be done in a very timely fashion. Justin was very thorough with his explanations and always available for questions. He was such a pleasure to work with and very happy we chose Groundworks because of their excellent customer service and efficiency. Thank you Justin!
I usually don’t leave reviews often, but Waterproofing team truly exceeded my expectations. From the initial consultation to the completion of the work, the entire process was smooth and professional. The team arrived on time, carefully inspected the issue, and explained the waterproofing process in a way that was easy to understand without trying to upsell unnecessary services. What impressed me the most was their attention to detail and cleanliness throughout the project. They treated the property with respect, kept communication clear, and completed the work within the promised timeline. After dealing with recurring moisture issues for a long time, it’s a huge relief finally having confidence that the problem has been properly fixed. It’s hard to find contractors who are reliable, honest, and genuinely committed to quality work, but this company definitely delivered. I would absolutely recommend this Waterproofing team to anyone looking for dependable basement or foundation waterproofing services.
