MRW Contractors–Masonry Restoration & Waterproofing works out of Quincy, and the reviews describe the kind of masonry most crews shy away from: century-old foundations, brick nobody makes anymore, and buildings where matching the original work is the whole point. The company says it has 18 years in the trade and describes itself as locally owned, serving Quincy and the greater Boston area. Its Massachusetts home-improvement contractor license is active. The last six months of reviews tell a consistent story. One homeowner picked MRW over two competing bids to rebuild a 1908 basement's crumbling stone foundation and prep the floor for radiant heat, and the job finished on schedule and on budget. Another described restoring an old building with brick so hard to source that MRW cut replacement pieces down to the original smaller size — "if you didn't know work was done, you probably wouldn't even notice the changes." A phased repointing and lintel repair on an 1850s Charlestown brick home was split into two budgeted stages so the owner could afford it over time. When the job is smaller, the crew moves quickly: a cracked foundation was filled and reinforced with steel plates in a single business day, and a chimney repointing wrapped in a day at what the customer called a fair price. That pattern holds at scale, too — 102 reviews since 2021 across four sources, 178 five-star ratings on Google, and not one complaint in the last six months. MRW is the call for an older Greater Boston home with a real structural masonry problem — a settling foundation, a chimney that needs repointing, brick that has to blend back into the wall rather than stand out. On a bigger restoration, it's worth asking whether the quote is broken into phases the way the Charlestown project was, so the budget and timeline are clear before work starts.

MRW repaired and resurfaced the front stairs and walkway of our condo property in the South End of Boston. Patrick and team did a fantastic job and were competitively priced.

Patrick did an impeccable job on our 1908 basement (crumbling stone foundation & semi-finished floor). We picked him from two other competitive bids. He came in on schedule, and on budget. The job entailed prepping and parging the walls, floor demo & prep for laying radiant heat, pouring a new slab (which involved ensuring the cement recipe was right for polishing). He came back in when we asked if he could do some finishing work on the seams between the walls and floor. His team is efficient, they clean up, and the whole crew -- esp Patrick -- is craft proud, which is rare these days. He was communicative from start to finish (with us, and with the other contractors) and professional at all times. He's a gem, and you'll be lucky to work with him. Before and after pics below.

Patrick and MRW are fantastic. Patrick visited promptly to quote our project, and his team was onsite doing the work the next day. They did an excellent job and the price was very fair. 100% recommend.

Fantastic work on an old building with hard to source bricks! If you didn’t know work was done, you probably wouldn’t even notice the changes! Feels remarkable for the exterior of a building that is so old! Patrick sourced the right bricks, cut them down to size (smaller bricks used back then), and did a great installation!

Patrick was excellent and worked on my 1850 brick home in Charlestown. All of my masonry required cutting and pointing and the lintels and headers were also in need of work, etc. High quality finish! The Best!<br>He also broke down the work into two phases so I could afford to do it over two periods. The house looks gorgeous now and I highly recommend him to all my clients and colleagues. He is very knowledgeable and also has many partners in other disciplines that he helped me navigate. Grateful for his professionalism, competitive pricing! Highly recommend!!!
