Gary Soto of Handy Remodeling is the Boston handyman customers kept calling back — one 2019 reviewer had him assemble a linen closet and immediately lined up more projects; a 2018 customer who had him install a Murphy bed was already planning a kitchen backsplash. He is listed as a small-project handyman doing carpentry, finish work and repairs to doors, windows, faucets and cabinets, and Angi and HomeAdvisor both show 4.8 stars across 27 ratings. The written record is deep but dated: 19 reviews on Angi from 2017 to 2019. The jobs run from a thermostat, hung shades and drywall patches (2018) to a bathroom where he tiled an uneven floor, set a vanity with its plumbing and lighting, and repaired the walls (2017). A 2017 customer noted he talked them into repairing part of a deck rather than replacing it, and finished on time and on budget. In 2019 he repaired a door the customer thought was past saving. Efficient, honest and reasonably priced are the words that recur. The one thing to plan around is his schedule. Three reviews from 2018 and 2019 say the same thing in different tones: he gets busy and arrival times slip. The sharpest is a May 2018 grill assembly — confirmed for the morning, no sign of him by 1:30, several calls, and a 6:40 pm arrival that cost the customer dinner plans; the reviewer still called him a nice guy and rated the job 3.5 stars. Two other customers said his timing was a little off but the work made up for it. The listings disagree on tenure — the website says 20 years, HomeAdvisor lists 13 — and they say no painting, though a 2019 customer had him repaint a kitchen. A solid choice for a list of small repairs, assembly and finish carpentry where quality matters more than the clock; pin down an arrival window and a fallback plan when you book.
Gary is very professional and he completed my project in a timely manner - which I appreciated. Gary did a wonderful job in putting together my linen closet. He did such a good job, I told him that I would like for him to come back to do other projects.
Gary does get busy and it can impact the arrival time BUT he is direct, professional and super high quality. He repainted our kitchen and repaired a door that we thought was beyond repair and so that saved us money and time. He is also very pleasant to interact with and it was comfortable having him in our home - which can't be said for every contractor you come across! We would highly advise choosing and his team him for any project at all.
I have been very satisfied with Gary's workmanship. He's a busy guy, and sometimes his timing / arrival to start the work was a little off, but the overall experience has been positive. He knows what he's doing and gets it done well. Does not waste time, and is workmanship is definitely up to par! I lie him! Kudos Gary!

This guy is the real deal. He helped me install a murphy bed and was able to assist with other repairs. He was very efficient, honest and did an impeccable job. I will be hiring Gary again for a kitchen backsplash. I couldn't be happier.
