Hawkeye Home Inspections is a home inspection company. A 2025 Angi customer with a 3,300 sq ft home wrote that the company was there for about 2 hours, did not run fill tests on the tubs, and that a tub leaked within minutes after move-in; that 2025 customer also said a missing downspout visible from the ground was missed and that the company offered no remedy. In a 2021 Angi review, a Grafton buyer said a roof leak over an enclosed porch began less than a week after move-in, that neither bathroom vented outside, and that the report listed everything as excellent. That 2021 customer said the owner, Peter, came out with the inspector to assess the issues, and that a month later she received a letter from the insurance company's law firm; she put the roof at $5,500 and the vents at slightly less than $2,000. A 2015 Angi customer said contractors found several feet of asbestos in the basement a year after the purchase, and that Peter referred them to his attorney when they asked about a settlement. A 2015 Angi customer said Mr. Ottovitz spent 2 hours on a third inspection instead of the 4 hours of the first two, charged the same, and that issues kept coming up in the six months after they bought. A 2014 Angi customer said a leaking kitchen radiator left mold, wood rot and termite damage that cost $60,000 to repair after a 2012 inspection, and that they settled with Mr. Ottowitz out of court after 1.5 years. In a 2013 review, a customer said live knob and tube wiring in the basement and loose bricks at the fireplace were missed, and that the warranty claim paid nothing. A 2021 Angi customer said Debra found Mark C. on a Sunday for a same-day pre-inspection of an antique house, which cost $230. A 2022 reviewer said inspector Dan was professional and thorough and that the inspection was scheduled on short notice. In a 2020 review, first-time buyers said Kurt explained what he was looking at and which issues were short- or long-term concerns. A 2014 customer said Nick Palmer had flagged a roof leak and a basement leak as possible future problems, and both happened within six months. On Angi it holds 4.2 stars from 28 ratings, with 18% of them 1-star. Its Massachusetts home inspector license, number 627-HI-1, held by Peter J Ottowitz, is active on the state registry.
Calling their inspection service ?complete? is a stretch. 3,300 sqft home and they were here for about 2 hours total. They failed to run fill tests on the tubs to ensure proper functioning. When I ran the tub after moving in there was a leak detected in within minutes. They?ve offered no remedy, and instead deflective ?apologies? where they deflect responsibility. Facts are, they did not leave the tub filled and running for 10-15 minutes to ensure they did not leak. They filled and drained it so they could hide behind a picture without a timestamp. Every day I?m finding more crap they missed. Like a missing downspout that is visible from the ground that is rotting out the trim near it. Do not use these hacks. They don?t do an ?inspection? they check the air filters on the furnace and flip a few light switches. You can do everything they do during the initial viewing. A real inspector should be checking nooks and crannies where you don?t see.
Peter came to do my buyer clients' pest inspection. He's done inspections for other clients, as well, on all sorts of houses (old and new). He's very knowledgeable, and gave these first-time buyers some important feedback on the house in general. I'd highly recommend him for pre-sale or post-sale inspections.
I highly recommend Hawk Eye Home Inspections. Our inspector Dan was professional, thorough and very helpful during the inspection and we were completely satisfied with the service we received. They were also able to schedule the inspection at short notice which was great.
Danny was very thorough, courteous and willing to share his knowledge. Hawkeye set up an inspection on very short notice, which we really appreciate. We're very satidfied with our experience!
Our Realtor had recommended Hawk Eye Inspections for our first home purchase we needed to schedule within 2 days. Their online platform for booking made everything so easy with the tight turnaround we needed. Kurt was absolutely amazing to work with throughout our inspection. As first-time homeowners, we had no idea about anything he was saying but he was so patient and explained everything so clearly for us. I was by his side asking a million questions and he answered them all with great suggestions to solutions to any problems that he found.
