"Make sure you carve out 3-4h for them." That was the advice an r/massachusetts commenter gave in August 2026, along with a name to ask for: Bryan. Hawkeye's own customers say much the same thing. A first-time buyer in May 2025 wrote that Neil spent almost four hours going through the house with her, upfront when he did not have an answer. In March 2024 another described three hours one-on-one with Curt, who stood in as the parent who knows what to look at. Hawkeye Inspectors works Massachusetts and New Hampshire out of Lexington, doing residential and commercial inspections along with environmental testing and energy audits. It says it is now in its 22nd year. Its BBB page is an A+. Inspectors get named, over and over: Neil, Daniel Fox, Chris Gregoire, Mike Kilgallen, Mina Gaber, Peter, Curt, Mark Childs, Ben Seck, Chip. What customers describe is consistent — the process explained before it starts, findings sorted by urgency (a September 2025 customer wrote that Chris separated what was urgent, what should be done soon, and what to keep an eye on), and a written report that arrives fast; a December 2023 customer had the full write-up within hours of the walkthrough. In a 2021 review, a homeowner arrived to find Neil already inspecting the roof with a 30-foot camera stick. New construction is covered at both stages: a June 2026 customer used Ben Seck for the pre-drywall and the final inspection, and in August 2024 a realtor credited Mina Gaber with catching a major mistake on a new build that nobody had spotted. The complaints point at one thing, and for an inspector it is the thing that matters. A November 2019 reviewer listed skylight and roof leaks, a furnace needing replacement, evidence of bats and mice in the attic and electrical problems, all missed. A September 2021 reviewer said an inspection that March did not flag a furnace and air conditioner at the end of their lives. In August 2023 another wrote that the inspection felt rushed and that contractors called in afterwards spotted the major issues right away. And in October 2025 a reviewer posted an edit contesting the company's own public reply, saying the damage turned up less than a week after moving in rather than two months, and that the owner's account of bleach being used was invented. Hawkeye suits a first purchase where you want someone to spend three or four hours teaching you the house, and new construction where a pre-drywall look is worth having. Ask which inspector you are being assigned — customers name them, and so do the complaints — block out the full three to four hours, and walk the whole property alongside them.
