HCJ Services

HCJ Services is a Chelsea, Massachusetts outfit that customers hire mostly for painting and finish work — its Angi listing runs from interior and exterior painting to flooring, fence installation and finish carpentry, alongside general handyman jobs. Two reviews from January 2021 sit on file, both five stars. One homeowner, writing about a wood-finishing job, called the timing good, the price very reasonable, and the result better than expected, noting the owner delivered the finished piece himself. The other described hiring the crew the summer before to paint every room and hallway in the house, calling them reliable, professional and flexible, and specifically praised how carefully they handled the floors and ladders — both reviewers flagged the pricing as reasonable. There's nothing more recent to go on since those 2021 accounts. One thing worth asking about directly: BuildZoom's own check of the Massachusetts contractor registry shows the company's Home Improvement Contractor license (#193746) expired in November 2020 and was still coming back inactive as of an April 2026 check. For interior or exterior painting, flooring, or small carpentry and fence work, HCJ has a specific, positive account behind it, even if it's a few years old. Given the license question, it's worth confirming current registration and insurance directly, and asking for a couple of recent references before booking.
