HEART Wildlife Removal takes the non-lethal route to animals in the house. The company says it uses humane strategies to resolve wildlife issues at homes and businesses, and it claims 16 years in business. A sevendaysvt.com article has described JoAnn Nichols's HEART Wildlife Removal as a business that performs humane animal evictions, and a vtcng.com article has named Nichols as a cofounder of the business and head of South Burlington animal control. A 2025 customer with a smell, most likely from a deceased animal in the walls, said Joann and Bethany laid out options before any major work. That 2025 customer wrote that they ran a perimeter inspection for entry points, closed some spaces off, made as small a cut as possible into the sheet rock, removed the nests and debris and cleaned everything up. A 2025 reviewer said Heart performed a thorough inspection, analyzed the household's photos and videos and sent more information by email while working out what animal activity was going on around the home. A 2026 customer with mice getting in the walls said the company focuses on blocking entry points to the home, and wrote that since having them come by, the household had been able to mitigate the mouse problem. A recent Google customer credits staff member Bethany with guidance and education and says she took time to listen to the situation. On Reddit, a 2025 commenter in r/burlington wrote that the company will search for where squirrels got in, deal with that, and humanely trap and relocate them. A 2025 commenter also wrote that the company said it can only inspect the property with landlord permission. The business has an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau and a 4.5-star average from 8 Google ratings.

Great guidance and education from staff member Bethany. She took time to listen to the situation and was very professional and passionate. THANK YOU for your help. I would highly recommend this woman owned business.
I am so grateful that HEART Wildlife Removal exists! As a friend to the animals, I dreaded the thought of having an exterminator come to my house to rid us of mice that were getting in the walls. But HEART Wildlife Removal focuses on non-lethal methods for preventing unwanted intruders! They focus on stopping the problem at the source, by blocking entry points to the home -- a better option than extermination in my opinion, since it prevents future critters from getting in. Since having them come by we have been able to mitigate our mouse-in-the-house issue and I am most grateful!
Heart is a great local business who is helping us determine what kind of animal activity we have going on around our home. They are quite knowledgeable and have been extremely kind and helpful, even sending additional information to us over email and analyzing photos/videos we have taken. They performed a thorough inspection and Bethany was kind and professional to deal with. Would recommend over any "pest control" companies who try to get you to signup for monthly services. They use a humane approach and we would also recommend for general wildlife concerns.
Joann and Bethany were so kind, humorous and patient in our interactions. Prior to any major work, they provided me with options to mitigate the wildlife issues we were having (smell from most likely deceased animal in walls). We ultimately decided to have the animal removed. Joann and Bethany simultaneously performed a perimeter inspection to identify any possible entry points for the intruder, and closed some spaces off for us. They made as small a cut as possible into our sheet rock, removed the nests and debris, and also cleaned everything up so efficiently and thoroughly. My daughter tagged along with their every move, and they embraced her interest and presence. I felt so respected and heard, as I weighed options and asked a plethora of questions. We would recommend them to anyone!
