Heney Construction has been at it in Douglas since 1975 — 51 years, by the Better Business Bureau's count, which grades the company A+ without accreditation and shows no complaints on file. Dan Heney is president and Tom Heney runs projects. Beyond that there is very little to go on. The company's own website is a photo-gallery teaser that states no services, no service area and no history, and its written record runs to a single account. That account is a hard one. In September 2018 a buyer of a new Heney-built home wrote that the warranty on the property went unhonoured, that the contract handed over at the sale was worthless, and that phone calls were screened and emails ignored. One voice, eight years old — and the only written one on file, which is why no rating is published here. So this is a builder you cannot research from the outside. If you are considering them, ask for the addresses of recent local projects you can look at, get the written warranty and read it before signing, and put the terms of any punch-list and post-closing repairs in the contract itself.
