Higher Standard Mechanical is a Bourne-based HVAC contractor that describes itself as veteran-owned and operated by Jordan Widdiss (called simply "Jordan" by most reviewers), serving Bourne and surrounding Barnstable County towns including Falmouth, Sandwich, Mashpee, and Plymouth. The company handles residential and commercial heating and cooling work: installation, diagnosis, and repair of central air conditioning, furnaces, boilers, mini-split systems, and oil heating equipment. The public record is 53 Google reviews spanning 2024 through 2026, every one five stars, with no negative reviews anywhere in the record. Customers describe Jordan Widdiss personally showing up for nearly every job, often on short notice, including same-day and weekend calls for lost heat, no hot water, or a failed air conditioner during a heat wave. One reviewer's carbon monoxide alarm went off on a Saturday; Jordan diagnosed a failing original boiler and had a full replacement installed by Christmas Eve. Another lost heat and hot water during a multi-day power outage in a 2026 blizzard and had both restored on the schedule he set. Across the two-year span reviewers also describe furnace and boiler installations, mini-split AC installs, an old leaky oil tank removed from a basement, and at least one plumbing fix — a bathroom sink repair the customer said would make Higher Standard Mechanical their call for any future HVAC or plumbing work. What comes up again and again is responsiveness and communication. Reviewers repeatedly describe Jordan explaining the diagnosis and repair before starting, taking photos to show what he found, and quoting a price upfront that held even when a job took longer than expected. Several call the pricing specifically fair and free of surprises, and multiple note he left the job site as clean as he found it, including one repair inside a customer's home. The one thing worth asking about before booking is scheduling during busy stretches: one reviewer's non-emergency call had to wait until the next morning because Jordan was off-Cape finishing a large installation elsewhere — a reminder that this is a small, largely one-person operation rather than a multi-crew company. For Bourne-area homeowners needing HVAC installation, repair, or emergency service — and occasionally a related plumbing fix — Higher Standard Mechanical has an unusually deep and consistent record of satisfied customers. Anyone with a larger, multi-trade project should confirm plumbing scope and licensing directly, since the company's own site frames itself primarily as an HVAC specialist.
Central air conditioner stopped working early Saturday evening in side temp 80 degree Called company that had did A/C maintenance put on schedule and may be out that week higher Standard talked to owner explained problem committed to come out first thing Monday They did quality work and up and running by 10AM very satisfied customer
Jordan under promised and over delivered! I reached out on Sunday with no a/c, heard back from him that same day with a promise to come Wednesday. He called the next day (Monday) and asked if he could come that afternoon. Long story short, my a/c was working within an hour of his arrival and he explained the diagnostics and repair in a way that I understood. The bill was a nice surprise too - it was reasonable for the work that was done. He is also a gentleman and all around nice guy. Highly recommend!
Excellent service! Knowledgeable, confident, and punctual, they possessed the expertise to fix our central AC in less than 48 hrs. Great people and veterans to boot! Jordan and his crew are aces in my book.
Jordan was quickly responsive to check the status of a pilot after a major storm and got my tenant's hot water and heat back online asap. Furthermore, I was informed he was very courteous and professional throughout the repair work.
During the blizzard of 2026 we lost power for three days. Needless to say, the house was frigid. We were concerned we wouldn’t be able to find anyone in a reasonable amount of time to get us back on track….but then came Jordan! He quickly diagnosed issues with both our hot water tank and furnace, sourced parts quickly, estimated the timeframe that he would complete the job and kept to schedule. In addition, he treated our home with respect, kept everything neat and tidy to a point you’d never know he was there. Thanks, Jordan you’re the best!
