Homeworks Renovations is a renovation contractor. A 2024 HomeAdvisor customer wrote that they were referred to Steve and Homeworks Renovations many years ago and listed completed projects including siding a garage, installing a block patio, building stairs and resurfacing decks. A 2025 HomeAdvisor customer paid $550 cash for work to redo the grout in a bathroom and replace broken tiles, then said the tile color did not match and the grout was not completed. That 2025 customer wrote that after several messages there was no further communication since 1/27 other than a text meant for someone else. Its Rhode Island home improvement contractor licence, number GC-46615, is expired on the state registry. A 2010 HomeAdvisor customer said they were on time every morning for two days while installing a new roof and gutters, and called the price reasonable. A 2009 customer wrote that Steven replaced and screened in the deck on their home. A 2011 customer said their roof leaked more after the work and still leaked after a second attempt. A 2010 customer said Steve was supposed to come back to install a window and had not called back after more than a month.
Communication was great. He came and provided an estimate of 550 to redo all of the grout in the bathroom and replace broken tiles and remove the metal plate around the bathtub faucet and replace with matching tile. He said this was a common type and size of tile so it would not be difficult to match. He arrived at 8am that morning and began working on January 17. I had to run errands for work and when I returned at lunchtime He was gone. He came back by a few minutes later and collected the 550 cash. I didn't inquire about the color being off as I thought it might have needed to set or dry. The next day I messaged him and let him know I was not happy with the color or grout covering not being complete. He responded that he did not realize that my tile had been replaced before and it was difficult to match. He viewed the tile during estimate. He should not have told me that it would be an easy match. After several more messages to him and pictures showing the difference in the tiles and grout not being completed, he responded and said he would come back and complete the grout and find some other tile that would match. I have not received any more communication since 1/27 other than a text message he intended for some else.
Having an old home in New England requires consistent attention and we are very grateful to have been referred to Steve and Homeworks renovations many years ago. Steve grew up in the business he is very experienced and knowledgeable. Steve is a total professional, he always arrives early and gets right to work, he has every tool needed in a mobile office trailer and a state of the art dump trailer for easy clean up. We have completed multiple large projects from siding our garage and installing a block patio and tons of small items from lights, faucets, building stairs and resurfacing decks. Homeworks does everything and they are a great local business to work with.
My roof started to leak even more after they touched our roof. They attempted to address the 2nd time after reporting to them about the active leak, but they did not do it right again based on the 2nd oppinion we get from another local pro. So, now it still leaks when it rains down pour. They did not address the leaking area that we wanted to rectify. Very disappointed at the outcome. Considering hiring somebody else next time.TIP: don't hire Pro far out from your town; hire local pro because if thing goes wrong, they will come right away rather long distance pro will consider "too far or not convinient for them" to come back.
The Heritage folks have now done 2 roofing jobs for me. The first was a flat, rubber roof on a home built in 1884. The job was completed on time, on budget, and in a professional manner. It's been almost 2 years since I had this one done and all major problems existing before the job have been addressed. When I noticed a couple minor problems after the installation (a gutter down spout roofed over and some leaking occurring in the area between the roofing / window interface), the Heritage folks dispatched professionals on the same day to fix. I liked their work so much, I hired to do my roof and gutters on my primary residence a year later.
Steve and his crew did exactly what they said in exactly the amount of time/budget quoted. They cleaned up each day and did not leave a mess at all. We absolutely LOVE our new deck!!!!!
