HOP Energy is a heating-oil dealer whose own website lists heating oil delivery, online ordering and fuel tank services, with delivery locations in Connecticut, New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Vermont. The company says it has been in business for 90 years. One recent customer had no hot water on a Saturday. Omar came out that evening, found an empty oil tank and arranged a Monday delivery; Dan filled the tank early Monday, checked the furnace and found it had to be primed, and Sean arrived shortly after to get it running. That customer said Claudia agreed the tank should not have been allowed to run out and that no fees would be charged. A recent customer said Seth did an AC annual service and gave a clear explanation of what he did. A 2025 customer said Tony T. found a boiler caked with debris from too much oil feeding into it, then cleaned it out and adjusted the oil flow. A 2025 customer said the installation of a new oil tank went smoothly. In a 2022 review, a customer said Dean arrived on Christmas morning to address a burner problem when the house was about 50 degrees inside. On the delivery side, a 2026 Reddit commenter in r/Connecticut said they get oil through Hop Energy and that it delivers without prompting. A 2026 customer on automatic delivery, watching the tank on a camera from Florida, said a truck was being sent to fill it even though the company's records showed differently. A 2026 customer said Maria spent over an hour walking through a new contract line by line. A recent customer wrote that the company always says something is wrong and will not deliver unless it is replaced. A 2026 customer of 20 years said their price-lock plan had expired, the customer service person was rude, and a promised call from a manager never came. A 2026 customer said texts announcing next-day deliveries arrived at 6:40pm and that the reps and the answering service mishandled the rescheduling messages. A 2023 customer said a short service visit was billed with many extra charges, and a service manager removed one fee but not the rest. A 2024 reviewer wrote that a class action suit had been brought against the company over overcharging customers.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Customer Service from Rita! I recently contacted HOP Energy / Valley Oil Company with questions about my heating service plan, and I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Rita. There are truly very few customer service agents out there of her calibre. Rita is incredibly intelligent, knowledgeable, polite, and professional. She has a very pleasant voice and a wonderful manner that immediately puts you at ease. Being from California and moving to Connecticut she answered all of my questions and was exceptionally patient—even when I asked her to explain the same thing twice. To top it off, she set up all of my upcoming appointments with complete ease. If you call HOP Energy, hope that you get Rita! She provides the kind of 5-star service that is hard to find these days.
Claudia was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant. She helped me get the best deal on oil, and thoroughly explained the various plans to me.
We had no hot water on Saturday. A call to emergency service resulted in Omar's arrival in the dark that evening. He discovered an empty oil tank and made a call to ensure oil delivery on Monday. Early Monday morning Dan arrived and filled the tank. He even went into the cellar, checked the furnace and determined that it had to be primed, which he was not licensed to do. He made a call and shortly thereafter Sean arrived. Soon the furnace was running and hot water flowed. Omar, Dan and Sean were knowledgeable, professional and, just as important, sympathetic, understanding and kind. I also talked to Claudia, who agreed that the tank should not have been allowed to run out and that I should incur no fees for the services. These people are fine representatives of the Valley Oil program.
The answering service promptly and efficiently corrected the charges on my account.
I just dealt with Sandy to purchase a prepay oil purchase. She was very helpful and professional.
