House Doctors of Andover and Merrimack Valley is the Andover-based branch of the House Doctors handyman brand, working out of 9 Bartlet St and taking on the full spread of small residential jobs — storm doors, window and frame repair, railings, decks, drywall and ceiling patching, flooring, cabinet refinishing and small bathroom and kitchen work. It changed hands in 2024, and the record reads differently either side of that line. Reviewers from 2016 through 2023 deal with an owner called Doug or Douglas; from late 2024 onwards they name Jason — one January 2026 customer put it plainly: "Jason is the owner and you deal directly with him!" A returning customer in April 2025 wrote that they had "used house doctors again under their new ownership and the experience has been fantastic". The current picture is strong. Google carries 4.8 stars from 121 ratings, and the last six months brought eleven reviews with no negative among them. Named technicians recur and get credited by name: Bill Austin, who a February 2026 customer said turned a 1960 bathroom "into a work of art" and painted a second floor in a house with "no square angles"; Al and Rob, who built new front steps and railings in May 2025 for a fourth-time customer; Ken, Mike, Eric, Ted, Shane and Lac elsewhere. Speed comes up repeatedly — same-day quotes, storm windows swapped in a couple of hours, a sagging deck beam diagnosed and fixed over the Christmas holidays in January 2024. The complaints are worth reading in full before you book, and they are specific. Under the previous owner, a September 2022 customer said they "over paid by 6000" on a deck job that was never finished, and an October 2022 customer described an Azek deck built flush with the finished interior floor and against the estimate, saying they went to arbitration and that the owner would not take part. A December 2022 customer described sloppy vinyl tiling laid over the old floor. Under the current owner, a September 2025 Angi review and a December 2024 Houzz review — apparently the same customer — describe LVP flooring installed with "bumps, planks popping up, and soft spots" that needed to be torn up and relaid, and an April 2025 Google review says simply "Poor quality, does not stand behind his work and won't resolve issues." Worth doing: get the scope and the price in writing, keep the estimate, and ask which technician is assigned — the strongest reviews are consistently about a named person.

Excellent workmanship, followup, and communication
Worked with Ken who did a good job regarding work needed relating to a mailbox and interior closet work. Efficient, amiable and professionally done.
Good job for a good price
This team is incredible. Recently had them power wash and paint our deck stairs, as well as, refinish and paint our basement floor. Their turnaround time was amazing, their pricing incredibly fair, and their attention to detail on the work was excellent. Would absolutely hire them again! Special thanks to Jason, Bill, and Tony!
This was a great experience...got an appointment quickly. The handyman did a perfect job as well as after work cleanup. He did a laminate flooring repair and a replacement of a pantry Bifold door. The cost was very reasonable.
