Huckleberry Propane & Oil delivers propane, oil, kerosene and diesel fuel, according to its BBB listing, and the company says it has been in business 16 years. A 2025 customer said the company removed a leaking oil tank more than 30 years old from a 1792 farmhouse and installed a new tank and pad in the cellar, naming Todd, Brian, Travis and Mike. A 2022 customer said Jake called back on Christmas Eve, was onsite within an hour and had the burner working by 4pm. A 2025 customer said Doug looked over a failed water heater, and Doug and Billy had the replacement done by 2pm on the scheduled day. A recent customer who has used the company for propane for years said it was always on time and very responsive. A recent customer said the company refused to come fill their tanks after they fell behind on a fixed price agreement, even after they paid in full, and they moved to another local oil company. A 2026 customer said Pam in the office answered "Well we kept you warm" when told of financial hardship during a call about an overdue bill. A 2025 customer said the company could not guarantee a delivery date while their tank was nearly empty. A 2024 customer said the company refused to fill half a tank because it delivers only full tanks. A 2023 customer said their family was left in the cold for over a week without a callback for a technician.
I'm a new customer, but so far so good.
IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE, IT WOULD BE NEGATIVE 5 STARS. I know how this review is going to make me look, but I am a firm believer in paying for and "receiving the best customer service." we were a multi-year customer of Huckeberry's for more than 6 years until last year, when my then-health problems caused us to fall behind on the monthly "fixed price agreement." We had to transition to another local oil company due to their refusing to come fill the tanks even after we paid in full and offered to pay in advance for oil. At the end of December 2024, we had two of their service technicians come out due to "no heat." this is NOT that old of a system. FIRST ONE Came at my request when we were not home, and that was fine. Then the 2nd came out, having to fix the others' lack of ambition; they were the ones who maintained it since the 2015 installation. NOW, 9-17-2026, we call in another local svc company who came immediately as we got lucky to get a next-day svc call. the 2 technicians arrived, made observations, and did in fact start and run the furnace, claiming due to the broken stud that had been previously sealed up by "past technicians of Huckleberry's," as the homeowner not knowing about boilers and components thereof, they found the upper cleanout plate, and the fire chamber was broken off as it's top stud of a 3-stud and nut system. During a previous cleaning, the stud was broken off, and then the technician decided it was a great idea to use ONLY HIGH-TEMPERATURE SILICON to seal the fire chamber. now, going into this new heating system, Hucklebery (Pam) states there is not a "service-only company," and they "have to have oil deliveries under the belt to be considered for a service call. so, fine, that's their rule about service with not being a customer, whatever. now, the fact that their technicians are the ONLY ONES WHO'VE EVER TOUCHED THIS FURNACE, Matt called back immediately, claiming it's over a year since they refused to accept liability for their past mistakes because "they don't know who else has been in there," accusing us basically. MY OPINION TO ANY AND ALL OIL CUSTOMERS. STAY AWAY FROM HUCKLEBERRY PROPANE AND OIL, AS THEY'VE GONE WAY DOWN HILL IN CUSTOMER CARE!!! AND THEY ARE USUALLY HIGHER PRICED THAN MOST ALL OTHER OIL DELIVERY COMPANIES, AS WE ALWAYS HAD TO CALL THEM TO ASK THEM TO MATCH THE LOCAL COMPETITORS WITHIN 12 MILES OF THEM, which until 2024 they did usually match. but for them, knowing all families are under extreme financial stress, they shouldn't have to call the oil company to get a matched price.
They have been my propane provider for years always on time, always competitive rates. Very responsive any time I need help
Before I get into my review, I will be up front: We're behind on payments. I can understand Huckleberry's frustrations. That does not excuse the conversation I had today with Pam about our overdue payments. I explained to her that we've been hitting some financial hardships - I've been out of work due to an illness, my partner has legal fees he has to take care of, and our rent has been changed to weekly payments. My response was "I will do what I can this week to make sure we get you something, even if it isn't the whole bill, but I need to prioritize my rent, because we don't want to be homeless." Pam's response? "Well we kept you warm." I'm sorry? I hung up because I couldn't believe I received such a response. She was incredibly rude to me, and historically has been rude to my partner. And to top it off, it felt like, to her, Huckleberry getting paid immediately trumps our rent, and therefor we might as well be homeless. Going forward we will be looking into another oil company, because I'm tired of dealing with Pam and her terrible attitude. Have a little grace next time.
They don't care how long they make their customers wait even when their tanks are basically empty. Merry Christmas, have to risk the tank running out, the pipes freezing and bursting because they can't guarantee a delivery date. We're just a paycheck to them, not customers/people.
