Ideal Floor Covering has run out of 882 Main St in Falmouth since the early-to-mid 1980s — its own site says 1983, BBB records the business starting in 1985 — making it one of Cape Cod's longer-standing flooring shops, still led by founder Mark Woods, also listed as the company's President and CEO on BBB. What began as a small specialty flooring store has grown into a broader operation selling tile, hardwood, carpet, laminate and vinyl flooring alongside kitchen and bath remodeling and custom closets, with a sister showroom in Hyannis and a Mashpee warehouse under the same ownership. The store side gets consistent, specific praise. In a February 2026 review, a customer credits associate Ana with steering them to tile and a stair runner within budget, "never pushing pricy options"; an October 2025 review names Anna for curating glass-tile backsplash options and letting the customer take samples home; and a September 2025 review singles out associate Jane for "detailed help and discerning eye" across a bathroom-and-staircase project. An older 2022 review credits Diana with a "prompt and nicely done" carpet installation. But three detailed 2025 reviews describe real trouble once the work moved past the showroom. A September 2025 review says the business gave "misinformation on tiles that ended up costing us significantly more money" on a three-bathroom renovation and was "not willing to own up to their mistakes." A July 2025 review describes stair and upstairs carpet installed so poorly it is "bubbling all over," plus hardwood flooring work it calls installation "by an amateur hack," with wrong measurements left uncorrected for days. An April 2025 review describes a rushed, inattentive sales interaction inside the Falmouth store itself, with staff repeatedly stepping away mid-conversation. That split is worth sitting with: Google shows a 4.5★ average from 69 ratings and Houzz shows 4.6★ from 10, both well above what the seven individually readable reviews suggest — those lean negative, with three of the last four written in 2025 being one-star complaints about installation and service rather than the sales floor. BBB lists the company as A+ accredited, a status held since 2009. Before booking a renovation rather than just a materials purchase, it's worth asking pointed questions about who does the actual installation and getting material and pricing specifics in writing, given the recent complaints about both. The showroom side — picking materials, getting a design consultation — has a stronger, more current track record than the installation side does in 2025.
We worked with Ana at Ideal Design to select tile for our new bathroom and foyer and a runner for our stairs and hallway. She is the best! She has excellent taste and helped us select the perfect colors and arrangements, helping us stay within our budget - never pushing pricy options. Each time we visited with Ana, she had several samples and options ready for us to see, which made the selection process even easier. She also came to our house to help measure, ensuring we were making all the right decisions and even helped us with some non-flooring design questions. Ana and Ideal Design did an absolutely fantastic job at reasonable prices. I highly recommend!
Anna was extremely helpful in assisting me with the selection of my kitchen tile backsplash. After I shared the color of my cabinets, flooring, and countertop, as well as the style I had in mind, she carefully curated a few glass tile options that complemented my space beautifully. She also allowed me to take a sample home to see how it looked in my kitchen, which made the decision process much easier. One issue I had with her was that she didn’t always call me back timely or at all, so I had to continuously follow up. I absolutely love the final choice. Thank you, Anna, for your excellent service—four stars. I experienced two challenges, the grout arrived significantly later than the tile and the installer ran out of tile because the warehouse initially missed including one box of tile. Why couldn’t they improve their customer service and deliver this to my house, it would not have been an inconvenience at all? Fortunately, both issues were resolved, and I’m very happy with the overall result.
Hi there, this review is about both Ideal Flooring but mainly about the exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and kind store associate Jane! I have been working with Jane now for a couple of weeks and I can honestly say without her expertise and input I would have been entirely lost. She has been incredibly patient and beyond helpful. I went in looking for 1 item and with Janes detailed help and discerning eye I’ve been able to complete the look for 2 full rooms, bathroom, and flooring for a staircase. She made things feels streamlined. I cannot say enough about her. If you need something done with great attention to detail and a lot of TLC, go seen Jane!
If I could I would give Ideal Floor zero stars I would. Our experience for a 3 bathroom renovation was nothing but negative. We were given a variety of misinformation on tiles that ended up costing us significantly more money. But the biggest issue is that they were not willing to own up to their mistakes or to try to work with us. Before the project started our tiler warned us not to use them but sadly we did and thought everything would be fine. Warning bells should have gone off when I walked into the store for the first time and overheard an irate customer screaming at Diana, the showroom manager, about a mismanagement of a project they did for them. Lastly, all tile ordered is final sale. Most of their competitors will take back unused tile. So beware!
This is a late review but everything about our experience with Ideal Flooring was bad. Service & installation both terrible. Lightly used stair and upstairs carpeting was poorly installed and is bubbling all over. Also had hardwood flooring installed and service on that was really bad by store employee. Basic area measurements were miscalculated and left us with open tack strips for several days on carpet. Now apparent it was installed by an amateur hack.
