Another contractor walked off a backyard retaining wall halfway through; Manolo's crew came in and rebuilt it, on time and on budget, the homeowner wrote in May 2022. Iron Hardscapes & Masonry works out of Lynn, and heavy stonework is what people call them for — walls, steps, patios and the grading that goes underneath. The company's site says its founder started as a masonry apprentice about 14 years ago. Manolo is named in ten of the nineteen reviews, which run from 2022 to 2026 and sit at 4.6 across 20 Google ratings. Patios draw the most repeat description — six accounts between April 2022 and May 2024. A February 2023 customer started with a pool patio, then brought the crew back for the pool landscaping and for a wall built while their land was graded. Retaining walls stretch further, to the most recent account in May 2026: a new wall plus leveling the condensers, with that customer writing that Manolo went through options that would work within their budget. The biggest job anyone describes came in April 2022 — multiple retaining walls, steps, patios, walkways, an outdoor fireplace, landscape lighting and over 5,000 square feet of sod, drawn up by a landscape architect before the proposal. Six reviews between May 2022 and June 2024 mention the crew showing up when it said it would, or calling ahead. A March 2024 reviewer, writing in Spanish, said Manolo stayed present on the job and kept her informed as it went; a November 2024 customer said extra masonry was done at no added cost and the area was cleaned up at the end of each day. The work isn't only stone: a June 2023 customer had stairs, stucco, foundation repair inside and out, and windows put in. One account breaks from the others, and it deserves weight. In August 2025 a customer wrote that turf laid in their backyard has very obvious seams and used more pieces than it needed, that landfill underneath it smells when it rains, and that when they asked him to come back and fix it he made it worse. They would never recommend him. The company's site lists a contractor supervision license and a hoisting license. For a retaining wall, a patio or stone steps around Lynn — especially a difficult site, or one a previous crew left unfinished — this is a reasonable call, and Manolo being on the job is much of the reason. Before signing, get the base and drainage detail in writing, and if turf is part of the scope, pin down the fill material underneath and how the seams will run.
Manolo and his crew built a retaining wall and leveled our condensers with speed and attention to detail. And during the estimation and pricing stage, Manolo worked with us discuss options that would work within our budget, be reasonably attractive, and be simple to maintain. He is very straightforward and responsive! Yes, he speaks Spanish and so do the people that work for him. But I think that's a lovely testament to the opportunity he provides to people who are working hard to make a living 👍
they put turf in my backyard and it looks horrible. The seems are very obvious and they used more pieces than they needed to. He used landfill under the turf and it smells when it rains. I asked him to come back to fix it and he made it worse. I would never recommend him for any work because his idea of quality is subpar.
Outstanding!! Manolo did exactly as we discussed. They did additional masonry work at no extra cost. All work looks professional, and they cleaned up the area at the end of each day. I highly recommend these folks.

Manolo did an awesome job planting beach roses in front of my home directly on the beach …. Not an easy task with so much sand And my roses are just beautiful ! Called to tell me when he was coming - great communication ! Will definitely have him do spring and fall cleanups Satisfied all around
