Iron Tree Service

Iron Tree Service is a Beverly, MA tree care company that homeowners on the North Shore call for the jobs regular landscapers won't touch — a 75-inch beech leaning on the house, a pine that just came down on the roof at 3:30 in the morning, a maple that has to be craned out over the neighbor's yard. Co-founders John Maestranzi and Eric Roensch started the company in 2012; Roensch says he's been in tree care since 1990 and is a Certified Treecare Safety Professional who studied at UMass Amherst's Stockbridge School of Agriculture. The written record backs up the emergency-response reputation: a condo association called them in at 5 a.m. after a white pine crashed through a roof and had a crane and chipper on site by 7:30, and a Boston Globe article from 2023 described an Iron Tree arborist cleaning up after a tree destroyed a Lynnfield family's bedroom and three cars. That kind of complex, high-risk work shows up constantly in the reviews — trees taken down near live electrical wires, a 4,000-pound shed relocated by crane during a removal job, four gigantic pines and a massive white oak removed with what one reviewer called surgical precision. A number of customers describe using Iron Tree repeatedly over several years — one for four separate jobs across six years — and crediting the same names (Dennis Silvio, Anthony, Chris) each time. The record is enormous and almost entirely positive: 441 reviews since 2017 across Google, Angi, and HomeAdvisor, including 34 in just the last six months with not one negative among them. Recent press also shows Iron Tree doing tree work at the Saugus Iron Works historic site, and in 2016 the company donated its removal and pruning services to Pingree Park's Arbor Day celebration. One thing worth flagging: in an October 2025 review, a customer alleged that the owner calls people who leave a negative review and pressures them to take it down. It's a single, unverifiable account, and it's the only negative review the record turns up — nothing else in hundreds of reviews describes a problem with the actual tree work. But given how uniformly five-star the visible record is, it's a claim worth keeping in mind when weighing just how representative that record is. Iron Tree's Massachusetts home improvement contractor license is active on the state registry, and it has held an A+, accredited rating with the Better Business Bureau since 2015. For anything beyond a routine trim — a dangerous removal near a structure, a storm emergency, a job that needs a crane — this is a company with a long, detailed track record of handling it.
