Wallpaper is the tell. Most painters will scrape the old stuff off and stop there; J & J Resnick hangs it, removes it, strips texture, patches plaster and repairs sheet rock, and the Littleton company has been doing it long enough that BBB puts its start date at 1 January 1985 and its years in business at 41. The written history here is deep but it stopped. Twenty-two accounts across Houzz and HomeAdvisor run from 2011 to November 2020, both platforms averaging 4.8, and then nothing. That is the single most important thing to know before calling: everything below happened years ago. What those years describe is a small crew that finishes fast and cleans up. In a May 2013 account, a customer watched them move furniture, cover the floors, strip wallpaper from two rooms, patch two walls and three ceilings, paint all three rooms and put the furniture back — in one day. A 2019 customer had faded forest-green vinyl Andersen windows repainted and wrote that at nineteen years old they looked new. A July 2019 sheet-rock ceiling job drew "prompt, professional... set up neatly and cleaned up properly." The owner, Jonathan Resnick, is named personally in account after account, usually as Jon, and reviewers writing in 2020 said they had used him for as long as fourteen years. The work bleeds into carpentry more than a painting company's name suggests. Customers writing between 2011 and 2020 describe damaged molding rebuilt, a storm door fitted, baseboards and framed doors, a closet designed and built, a wood mantle, and two bathroom remodels — worth knowing if your painting job has a repair buried in it. The complaint on file is specific and, like everything else here, old. In June 2013 a customer paid $4,390 and reported flat paint used on woodwork instead of semi-gloss, plus a promised return for cracks and touch-ups that never came. One account, thirteen years back, against a long run of praise — but it is the one thing worth pinning down in writing. So is the paperwork. The Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration under the company name, 178632, is expired in the state registry; BBB still lists that number and grades the business A+ without accreditation. Ask where the registration stands, ask for recent references rather than the 2020 ones, and get the sheen written into the quote.
