An audubon.org page describes Jewett Builders as a company that specializes in lifting and moving buildings, and a maineboats.com page calls it "a family-owned jacking and moving company" in Pittston. A 2024 customer with a barn and home from the late 1700s or early 1800s wrote that the foundation under the barn was giving way, and said the company's estimate explained every detail. That 2024 customer described the company as fast and said it was upfront about anything else it found that might be worth fixing. A 2021 customer said the company came out quickly and arrived on time during the due diligence period of a home purchase, when the crawlspace showed significant rot and termite damage in the structural beams and sills. That 2021 customer said Cathy made it a priority to get the quote to them within the day, and wrote that they passed on buying the home.
“I contacted a family-owned jacking and moving company, Jewett Builders in Pittston. They told me I should’ve called them 25 years ago—but said they’d give it a try.”
“FOHI contacted Jewett Builders, which specializes in lifting and moving buildings. By the time they made a plan, Don Jewett was already booked more than a year in advance.”

I have an old barn and home from late 1700s early 1800s. The foundation under the barn was giving way. They gave me the most extensive estimate by far. Explaining every detail. I have flipped several homes and used several contractors over many states. Right away I could tell they knew what they were doing. Highly professional and fast. Does not cut corners. Upfront about anything they find that you might want to fix in addition to. Extremely satisfied.
I contacted Jewett Builders while in my due diligence period of buying a home at 170 Thayer Road Whitefield, ME 04353. They were able to come out quickly and arrived on time. It was clear right away when we were down in the crawlspace/basement area that the structural beams/sills/etc had significant rot and termite damage. They spent time answering my questions and explaining what all would be involved with this extensive, costly mitigation. I felt confident that they knew what they were doing and did a thorough job assessing what was needed to put together a quote for me to go back to the sellers with. Cathy made it a priority to get the quote to me within the day. Sadly the homeowners are trying to ignore this critical damage, not disclose the condition and I passed on buying the home. I would totally recommend this company and highly suggest having experts come out to assess vs regular inspectors as this damaged was not noted just a year prior in the previous inspection report. Thank you for helping me through this process!
