JL Painting Services

When Jose Chaclan's crew painted a house's vinyl siding in 2025, the job started somewhere else entirely: the roof and the whole body of the house pressure-washed, everything inspected, repairs made, and only then paint. Wash, check, fix, paint — that order is what customers of this Marlborough family business keep describing. JL Painting Services is run by Jose and Susy out of Marlborough, doing interior and exterior painting for homes and businesses from Worcester across to Boston, along with pressure washing, gutter cleaning, drywall, and floor and carpet installation. Google has it at 4.8★ across 31 ratings; on Thumbtack it holds 4.3★ across ten ratings, with Top Pro status for 2025 and 51 project photos on the page. Money is where customers get specific. A 2023 homeowner said the house was painted within the quoted price with no surprises; another that year added work mid-job and said Jose priced the extra just as reasonably. A customer hiring them a second time in July 2026 wrote that the price beat every contractor he had approached. The estimate is free and comes with an explanation — a July 2026 homeowner was walked through the power washing, the sanding preparation and the painting by Jose and Susy before anything started. They do more than paint. An April 2026 customer had drywall completely replaced and trim installed and said belongings and rooms were carefully protected throughout. A 2024 customer had flooring installed in a very old house and said it gave the place new life. Another had carpet laid in a basement in 2023. For a deck job in 2023, the crew moved the furniture off, weather-wrapped it, and worked around the rain. The account to raise is the recent one. In May 2026 a customer wrote that several items were left unfinished and that after being paid in full, nobody came back to finish the details. On Thumbtack, eight of the ten ratings are five-star and two are one or two stars. The profile is also inconsistent about its own age: the summary block says seventeen years in business while the overview field on the same page says eighteen. For a house repaint, a deck, or interior rooms where you want the prep done properly and the quoted number to hold, this is a small family crew with a straightforward run of finished work behind it. Walk the punch list with Jose before the final payment goes out.
