In a February 2025 review, a customer wrote that JNJ Woodworking restored their mother's table to the point you can't tell it was ever damaged. Three of the five customers who wrote about the work describe repair or refinishing rather than something new — this Marion shop's reputation rests on saving pieces other people would replace. The older accounts go deeper. A July 2017 Houzz reviewer had a tiger maple dining table refinished and says John researched the finish far enough to discover where the table had been made, and that there had been issues with that finish when it was bought. An August 2016 Houzz customer lists a string of projects: mahogany counter tops, a kitchen table, caps for deck railings, a refinished dresser top, and a bathroom vanity built from four hand-carved bed posts. In a September 2021 review, a homeowner who needed an antique bed repaired wrote that JNJ took the small job without hesitation, finished quickly, and priced it reasonably; a September 2025 reviewer calls him an expert carpenter. Worth knowing before you call: the newest review, posted in August 2026, is a single star, and it is about John's position on youth sports in the area — that writer says there are better woodworking companies nearby. Google's nine ratings average 4.6, and Houzz shows two five-star reviews. If you have a piece worth saving — an antique to repair, a table to refinish, a built-to-fit vanity or counter — that is the work customers describe in the most detail. Ask to see recent pieces and get a written quote for your own before committing.
