Cape Cod Roofing and Siding is Skip Schiappa's Wareham roofing shop, founded in 1978 and still run day-to-day by its founder — reviewers consistently mention Skip personally showing up, taking photos of the damage, and explaining what does and doesn't actually need fixing before quoting a job. That owner-level involvement is the throughline. In a 2025 review, a homeowner described Skip visiting on a Sunday to photograph roof damage and walk through exactly what was and wasn't necessary, with no upsell attempt. In a 2021 review, a customer said Skip went beyond the original contract to hand-craft custom copper shingles on a cupola that became the house's focal point. Another 2021 review described a rarer kind of follow-through: after a 2009 church roof job turned up a bad dye lot with visible color variation, Skip kept after the manufacturer for 12 years until they finally authorized a free replacement. The company holds CertainTeed's Gold Star Contractor, Gold Star Flat Roof, and Select Roofer designations — manufacturer-level credentials tied to installation quality, by the company's own account. It isn't BBB-accredited and carries no BBB rating. The record isn't spotless. A January 2026 review accused the company of dishonesty and described being scammed out of several thousand dollars, with legal action pending; a 2022 review said Skip never returned a call. Those are real, specific complaints worth weighing. One more recent review, from June 2026, reads as a complaint about Skip personally failing to pay for trailer servicing at an unrelated business — it doesn't describe any roofing or siding work and isn't a customer account of this company's service, so it shouldn't be read as one. For a straightforward roof or siding job, the strongest signal here is a business owner who still does the walkthroughs himself and has, more than once, gone further than a contract required — balanced against a couple of serious complaints worth asking about directly before signing anything.
Skip has been coming to us for years to have his trailer serviced. He was in early June of this year, wrote a check for $89.20 and never endorsed the check. Here we are 6/18 and he has ghosted us. Not even a return call or test.
Skip was great. To work with very informative, really knows his stuff. His crew was on time and worked all through the day to get the job done. My roof looks fantastic. I highly recommend them for your roofing project.
Hello. I must preface this by saying I know very little about construction so I can not speak to the details of the roof replacement I had Cape Cod Roofing and Siding do. However, as a middle age single parent of three, I believe my character assessment kills are pretty dependable. I own a historic home in one of Cape Cod's lovely towns by the water. My house, cottage, garage and other outlying structures around the property here are of substantial value both financially and of legacy. Upkeep is expensive at every turn it seems. The main house needed a roof that I had put off for years, not because of money, but because I was not looking forward to dealing with another contractor. My luck with contractors has been "EH" at best. I am sorry, but that was my experience up until the roof. I called the 800 number for Cape Cod Roofing and Siding as I assumed it meant a bigger company with better consumer service and not local so if I had another issue I would not have to avoid them at the market in town. A man named Skip returned my call and introduced himself as the owner. Skip came out a day later. Everything I had experienced prior with contractors was different with Skip right from the start. On time, no reeking of smoke or alcohol, exceptionally social in his greeting and very well spoken. Overall, an impressive first impression that did not disappoint one iota. An impressive personal stature and well groomed. Skip asked me what I expected out of the project, and with the exception of one item, I signed a contract with him. A month later the project was completed as if he and his company were never here. All I can attest to is that my project looks lovely, I enjoyed talking to Skip while onsite and I am now using him as a reference point to other contractors that he networks with. Hopefully one of them mimics Skip and that he is single. I had to add that, Skip was refreshing as a man who appears socially and professionally squared away as my military father would say. Hopefully this helps someone's decision making process. Oh, I spent a substantial amount of money with Skip's company. I felt it to be the right money. Oddly enough all the quotations from five contractors were within a $100 of each other which I thought strange given the tens of thousands I spent. Why did I choose Skip? His quotation was a fixed number, not an estimate (estimates scare me), and as I previously stated, just an overall look exuding pure professionalism.
YES, the business asked me to post a review on both Google and YELP. I own a home in central Massachusetts and like everyone else I needed a roof. My talking points were experience, availability, explanation of what my possible options would be and of course cost per option. My due diligence had me get multiple estimates. Summary, all estimates were "in the ballpark" as they say. What led me to choose Cape Cod Roofing and Siding was simply Skip himself. Given all the products and services were a constant to all involved I concluded, Skip simply came across as someone who truly was dedicated to his trade. His answers to my questions were no "BS". Quite frankly, as he stated, "he looked at every job as if it were his own property and what would he do if he were I". I can not ask for more than that. The man is genuine to a fault. I remember that I wanted a certain product and he blatantly told me that I should probably get someone else. It was not rude, it was direct. All in all, my $9,000.00 was well spent 11 years ago. Since then, I have spent about $341,000.00 with his company since on my commercial buildings. I had an issue with one of his roofs. Leaking like a sieve. Skip made a 2 hour ride within hours to resolve the problem caused by animals. Charged me service call that was more than reasonable. The man has not failed me yet. I finally got around to responding to his request for a review. btw: I have read the reviews here and other places. Besides the obvious personal attacks and moronic comments about nothing, I see my opinion of Skip and his company mirroring the majority of what I wrote.
Skip came to repair & inspect my roof. Explained everything he was doing and got close-up pictures of the repairs that were needed. Everything everything was fairly done in a short amount of time👍
