JNP Contracting LLC is a Marshfield-based builder Jon Palmstrom has run since 1991, focused on the kind of project a homeowner calls a builder for rather than a handyman: full additions, custom home construction, and the fine carpentry and historic restoration work that keeps New England's older homes intact. The company describes itself as building, restoring and renovating fine homes across Massachusetts, and its work has reached beyond its own client list — Horner Millwork spotlighted two of Jon's builds, in 2024 and again in 2025, for their custom moulding and stairwork, one of them a Coastal New England-styled house the millwork supplier called out for its finish detail. The written record that exists is short but consistently strong. Six Houzz reviews, all five stars, describe specific projects: a 2,600-square-foot addition that turned a ranch into a modern Greek Revival home, a 4,000-square-foot architect-designed waterfront build in Hingham, and a kitchen and first-floor renovation carried from drawings to the punch list. Clients across those reviews return to the same points — detailed line-item quotes, honesty about pricing, and a crew they call master carpenters. One client who hired Jon twice, for a home and later a commercial project over 28,000 square feet, said the trust built up from repeat work showed in how he treated the second job like his own house. Those reviews date to 2016 and 2017, so they describe an older stretch of the business rather than this year's work. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. Houzz separately lists a license number for the company that differs from the one on file with the state — a directory entry, not a verification, so it's worth confirming which number applies to your project when you call. JNP is a fit for a homeowner planning a real addition, a custom build, or a restoration on an older New England house rather than a quick repair. Given how dated the written reviews are, ask for references from more recent work before signing on.
“> As we turn the page to December and settle into the start of the holiday season, we are excited to share this month’s featured project from the 2025 Horner Wall Calendar. Some homes make an impression the moment you step inside. Not because of one dramatic feature, but because the details work together in a quiet, steady way. This home, built by Jon Palmstrom of JNP Contracting, is one of those projects. Horner Millwork supplied custom MDF interior doors, a mix of custom and stock mouldings, and stair parts, with guidance from Horner Sales Rep and interior specialist Matt Barnes, whose produ”

“Our expert sales representative worked closely with both the builder, Jon Palmstrom of JNP Contracting LLC, and the homeowner to help realize their vision. With classic Coastal New England styling, the house showcases thoughtful millwork details throughout. Horner Millwork proudly supplied all the interior trim, including v-groove walls, casings, base mouldings, crown mouldings, stair parts, interior doors, mantel components, and more. ... Thank You // We extend our gratitude to Jon Palmstrom of JNP Contracting LLC for trusting us with this project and congratulate him on his exceptional work.”
We hired Jon to build a new addition with a new kitchen, living room, dining room, and large entry hall onto our existing ranch home, and renovate our existing home by adding new bathrooms and a master suite, among other upgrades to the existing house (roof, electrical, etc.). He transformed our ranch into a gorgeous 2,600 sq. foot modern greek revival house and the job took about 9 months. Everyone who walks in is amazed by the detail and quality of Jon's work. Jon is an incredible craftsman and for a reasonable price can transform a modest house into a showpiece. Before hiring Jon we interviewed a few contractors, but Jon was the only one who came with a quote that also had detailed line items that described how much everything would cost and why. Jon is extremely honest and does not underbid or tell the homeowner what she or he wants to hear to get the job, and then raises the price once the job is ongoing. He stuck to the line item numbers he quoted us, unless the scope of work changed, at which point, Jon helped us negotiate with the subs. Will post pictures soon.
I supplied a timber frame to an addition that Jon was working on and have nothing but good things to say about the experience. Jon was professional, insightful and a pleasure to work with. I would absolutely recommend Jon. Christian Gudmand Hardwick Post and Beam
My husband and I hired Jon 5 years ago to build our home(dining room picture attached). This is just one small example of the kind of work Jon produces. Since then, he has renovated another smaller home for us and has done a commercial project over 28,000 feet in size. His abilities have shone with both large and small/ residential and commercial projects. By virtue of having hired him repeatedly, the trust we place in the quality of his work is apparent. We always felt Jon had our best interests in mind and he treats every project as if it were his own home. His attention to detail is unparalleled. Jon is one of the kindest, most humble and honest person we have ever dealt with in a professional manner. He is a rare gem and we feel fortunate to enjoy his beautiful craftsmanship. We hired Jon Palmstrom to construct our 4,000 sf architect designed home in Hingham. As a real estate professional, I have worked with dozens of contractors, Jon is at the top of my list. He worked very well with the architect, delivered a very complicated waterfront project, on budget. He stands behind his work, and after 10 years, we are still extremely pleased with our home! We were very pleased with every aspect of his work and heartily recommend him !
Jon brought our kitchen/first floor renovation to life from architectural drawings ... He and his crew are master craftsman carpenters with an eye for detail. He was involved with every aspect of this project from demo day to the punch list and called or came on site every day... Jon worked well with our architect and kitchen designer ..The subcontractors he hired were professional and timely...His quote for the project was fair and accurate and the project finished on time
