John Martin, Inc. works out of 32 Rayber Road in Orleans and digs, installs and pumps across Cape Cod: site preparation, grading, foundations, demolition, water and sewer lines, drainage and pool excavation on the earthmoving side, septic installation and pumping on the other, plus portable toilet rentals. Three town governments list the firm among their approved contractors — the Orleans utility contractor appendix, the Provincetown sewer department, and the Harwich Board of Health septic installer roster. That is standing a septic contractor earns through the towns, not through advertising. What customers describe most is speed. In a June 2026 review a homeowner whose washing machine drain backed up called on a Sunday and had someone on site in 30 minutes, tracing the blockage to branches in the septic outlet. In a 2023 account a homeowner with water across the basement floor wrote that Gary came out within the hour, drained the system and cleaned up the mess. Another 2023 reviewer who found every other company booked up called and was served the next day, with the pumping explained step by step because it was their first time. A June 2025 reviewer with a septic emergency had people there the next day and said the cost was within the estimated rate. The excavation side draws the same tone. An October 2025 reviewer described the firm handling an addition in Eastham — clearing concrete walkways, asphalt and trees, digging for the footings and foundation, and backfilling in what they called a really tight area. A 2024 reviewer summed it up as highly skilled in all phases of site work and septic, tree clearing included. Staff get named again and again, which is unusual. Gary appears on the pumping truck across several years; a June 2025 reviewer described John Martin Jr. running a tight-tank installation, organized and punctual with zero issues, and called the office staff kind and knowledgeable. On Nextdoor in April 2026, a neighbour answering a request for a septic company that actually wants new business replied simply: Out of Orleans the best, ask for Gary. Google averages 5 stars across 17 ratings, and all eleven written reviews, from 2023 through June 2026, are positive. One thing to check for yourself: the Massachusetts plumber licence matched to this business, number 48144-PL-A, is registered to an individual named Alexander John Martin Noel rather than to John Martin, Inc., so ask the company directly for its own septic installer credentials before booking. For a Cape homeowner with a failing or backed-up septic system, or one planning excavation for an addition, this is a firm with an unbroken run of specific, first-hand praise and standing on three town rosters.

Water was coming out of my washing machine drain. I assumed the outlet to the septic was blocked. It was with branches. I called, Sunday. Somebody was here in 30 minutes, I don't know the gentleman's name, sorry. It was taken care. I wouldn't of been able to use anything in house. Sink, TOILET!!! GREAT service. In fact it was so good, you almost want to have an emergency.
JD Martin did the excavation for an addition to our home in Eastham….they were FANTASTIC!! They did all the excavation including clearing the area of concrete walkways, asphalt and trees…digging for the set up of the footings and foundation….and back-fill. The project required working in a really tight area but they handled it with ease. They were totally professional and friendly to work with. I would recommend them highly!!
John Martin Inc. is a fantastic company for several reasons. I had a Septic pumped out by Gary. I also had a Tight Tank installed by John Martin Jr. at my property and the operation went smooth with zero hassle. Firstly, Gary was amazing. I met him first to pump the previous septic. Gary went out of his way to help me maintain the old system until I was able to upgrade. Secondly, John Martin Jr led the operation to install the new system. He was organized, punctual, and completed the install smoothly with zero issues. Lastly, their office secretaries Laura and Sue are kind and knowledgeable of the work done at the company. They are always willing to answer any questions and will get back to you within reasonable timeframes. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this company for both septic drainage and new system installs.
We had a septic emergency. John Martin was very responsive, had people here the next day and the cost was within the estimated rate. Also the guys that worked over here were really nice. 10/10 would recommend.
I called John Martins office in a near panic this AM . My toilets wouldn’t flush. The person who answered the phone was extremely helpful and assured Me they could solve my problems. And by midafternoon they had ! The driver was great , He was able to pump the tank , Took the time to be sure my toilets were working . I would recommend John Martin to anyone who has a septic need 👊🏻
